...Is that whenever I use or people read the word "lumberjack" they immediatly start humming or singing the masterpiece all the way to "I wish I was a girlie, just like my dear papa!". Is this just my area? Is it just Britain or is this an English speaking phenomina? Discuss.

The song's not as well known here, but among those that do know it, the urge is more or less irresistible. Mostly we only know the chorus here. ----- TANSTAAFL

All together on the chorus now folks
I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay. I sleep all night. I work all day.
Mounties : He's a lumberjack, and he's okay. He sleeps all night and he works all day.
I cut down trees. I eat my lunch. I go to the lavatory. On Wednesdays I go shoppin' And have buttered scones for tea.
Mounties: He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch. He goes to the lavatory. On Wednesdays he goes shopping And has buttered scones for tea.
Chorus : I'm (He's) a lumberjack, and I'm (he's) okay. I (He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.
I cut down trees. I skip and jump. I like to press wild flowers. I put on women's clothing And hang around in bars.
Mounties : He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps. He likes to press wild flowers. He puts on women's clothing And hangs around in bars?!
Chorus : I'm (He's) a lumberjack, and I'm (he's) okay. I (He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.
I cut down trees. I wear high heels, Suspendies, and a bra. I wish I'd been a girlie, Just like my dear Mama (or Papa in later versions)

Bring forth the holy hand grenade.
First thou shalt count to three, no more no less, not two, not four or five, but three, and three shall be the number of the counting. Four thou shall not count, nor thou shall count to two unless thou shall proceed to three. Five is right out. Once thou has counted to three, thou lobest thou holy hand grenade at thy enemies, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

I can't help myself when I hear/see the word lumberjack, I either start humming or singing or just fade out for a moment while the tune plays in my head, with a stupid smile on my face. Many of my friends do the exact same thing, and we're not even British. Granted, Sweden has a bit of a reputation for being on the same level as Britain when it comes to humour, but still. Who can deny the absurd awesomeness of Monty Python?
Damn you, now I can't get the song out of my head!

Lumberjacks are our kryptonite. It's the single easiest way to derail a Britton's though proccess, thus mentally disabling him for the minute or two it takes to reach the final verse (possibly longer if he finds he's forgotten exactly how it goes and must mull over whether its "I'm ok" or "I'm alright"). True story. ------

Oh yes. I can highly recommend what I did once - watch The Quest for the Holy Grail (or whatever strikes your fancy) with a bunch of equally nerdy friends, plus one person who has never seen anything by Monty Python. It's quite an experience to see the puzzled look on that person's face. At first she didn't understand why we started laughing before the jokes, but after a while she figured it out and asked "you've seen this movie before, haven't you?" - "nah, only about fifty times..."
Other things that gets me going are large wooden badgers (if I was a lumberjack I would build one), crucifixion procedures and the ministry of silly walks.

An argument isn't just contradiction. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition, it's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
