Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi".

HL1's marines had squad AI that did about the same as Cod4 enemy AI... only it didnt look so mechanic about it. (i fear the players squad has no AI at all, theyre just following scripts and rails )

Avery Fatwallet	Posted - 2008.01.08 18:12:00 - [21] Edited by: Avery Fatwallet on 08/01/2008 18:13:42 well... at first i was like "WHOA thats like a cool action movie" but since you have to develop something called "situational awareness" if you want to -somewhat successfully- beat the game on the hardest level, you WILL have to take a closer look at the enemy. and IF you do that, you will be in for a nasty surprise. because all of a sudden the single player feels like a shooting range with paper targets. i mean, pay attention to the respawns, in "those" levels. its horrible. plain and simply horrible. but since the rest is so much fun, this effect levels the SP out at "okay". well.. the multiplayer... it HAS its pro's, imho the biggest being its rulesets. with the player in control of all those server variables its like youre getting 5 different multiplayer shooters. one setting feels like CS, one setting feels like Quake. but lo behold. whats the problem with those two games? right. theyre shallow. so no matter WHAT you set, you will never have a (insert good tactical shooter- i havent found one yet). imho, since BF2 (which isnt excellent either, just okay) a squad like system with integrated VoIP should be standard to serious shooters, since this was the best improvement the whole genre ever got. in cod4 you can listen to that squeaky 13y old across the map screaming "theres a guy over there". way to go, chaps.

Also, since updating to 1.4, i'm now looking for a populated (low ping - european) FFA server, not hardcore/TDA, no/high score limit, ~20 minutes time limit, and <32 slots (the 50 man ones are fun, but only fun for so long...)
