I'm just starting to transition from lvl 2 missions to lvl 3. Are there any infamous missions I should watch out for or try to avoid? I'll be using a hurricane with fairly low SP.

In a drake or myrm with T2 skills in defense (not weapons)and T2 light/medium drones u should have no problem with any of them except certain parts of New Frontiers. It follows that u read the survival mission info b4 doing each mission--http://eve-survival.org

I recommend you avoid -all- level 3s. Loot and salvage seem to be better in lvl 2's from my experience, the rewards are crap, the bonuses are crap and the LPs are crap. The bounties are not spectacular but at least they take a little bit of the misery out of it.
Instead, get yourself a friend and start doing lvl 4s in a BC. The bounties rock, the rewards are pretty good, the loyalty points are in a completely different league to lvl 3, they are far more challenging and exciting and you ain't seen salvage til you have cleaned up a battlefield of 23 wrecked battleships and dozens of smaller ships (not at this level of play anyway). And you actually get some loot you can sell reasonably fast.
Skip 3s, go to 4s, you will never look back.

Part 10/10 of some l3 storyline. Can't recall the name but I lost my Cerberus in there. Its like a darn L4. Add to that that sometimes the ship won't warp for no good reason and me usually not paying attention and thats a recipe for epic fail.

Kidnapper Strike (storyline mission). You can immediately warp out upon the destruction of the thingy. Killing anything in the last room is not a requirement. Make a bookmark first.

Yeah I got The Blockade against Gurrista and it is hard. I did a search and found there are triggers that if you kil em, spawn the next round. Well now that it looks like I have spawned them all is there a way to reset the mission?

level 3 Portal to War can be a little brutal for the first time. Be sure to read up on it before you do it, and be prepared to pay for some repairs.
