Ladies and Gentlemen have we got a treat in store for you!!!
Welcome to the Monster Indy 5000 racing championship! The biggest, baddest, nitro-fuelled, hardcore indy racing in the galaxy! We're gonna have the most suped up, gas guzzling monsterous machines you've ever wittnessed streaking across the skies of EVE!!!
Races will start at 2200 eve standard time on Sunday 21/03/04 from Yulai.
There will be three race categories:
1. Beginners championship - If you're new to EVE, or if you've not been a pilot for more than 1 month you can enter this category, expect competition to be fierce as young pilots scramble for the highest quality parts and ships in an effort to be the fastest new pilot on the block. 3 system race.
2. All out drag speed fest! - Any pilot can enter in any custom rigged speed indy, tuned to breaking point to be the fastest mother loving trucker in the galaxy. 5 system race.
3. Big Haul! - Just like the drag race, fastest pilot to get from start to finish wins, the only catch is you gotta carry 5000 cargo all the way... watch those overdrive mods 5 system race.
Rules: Providing you conform to the category's requirements, anything else is fair game! All races will take place in system with a 0.7 or higher security rating.
Entry fee for beginners championship will be 50k and 100k for the drag and big haul races.
Since this is a new event Monster Indy 5000 will make sure the prize fund for the winner of each race is at least 1 million isk! That's a lot of isk for 5 jumps!
If you want to enter a race, sponser a racer or just spectate, join channel 'Indy 5000' for the very latest race information.
If you want to race or follow the racers across the galaxy make sure you're in Yulai at 2200 eve s.t. 21/03/04
*While every care is taken to ensure the saftey of participants and spectators during races, Monster Indy 5000 cannot be held accountable for your personnal safety or loss of ships.
*Monster Indy 5000 reserves the right to cancel races based on political climate, terrorist activity, lack of participants or for any other reason, if this occurs all entry fees will be returned to the entrants of the cancelled race(s)

Since Draxus didn't show up for this (I hope nothing awful happened in RL, mate) some of those who turned up for it organised theri own race at the time.
Id like to thank Barbicane, Darkstar78, Repte, Robert Fi'Ania'Tharius, Mixman, threeD and Kronus Kroegler for a hilarious and tense multi-jump Race.
Racefans of the Galaxy were not left wanting as these Fiery Speed freaks in their Hyped-up Haulers ripped the very fabric of space apart with the roaring exhaust of their Rods!
Nice one, boys.

Edited by: draxus on 23/03/2004 13:32:35 Hi everyone,
My thanks to everyone who enjoyed the unofficial race last Sunday for keeping the spirit alive!
<ooc>I'm glad that you had a good time on Sunday night, I was struck down with a case of fried graphics card! I should have a new one today or tomorrow, in the mean time you may see me about using a 'borrowed' gfx card (the lag is terrible, but just about usable) </ooc>
Monster Indy 5000 (Take 2!) is scheduled for Sunday 28th, time is yet to be confirmed but likely to be around 2200 eve standard time. Stay tuned!
(I will use this thread to keep everyone updated from now on, events is a better place for it)
The official in-game chat channel is 'Indy 5000' check it out to get the latest details and maybe even some tips
Gaius: Monster Indy 5000 has a neutral political stance, while I am friends with bl3ach that does not extend to sharing his ideologies. Monster Indy 5000 will not reveal names or corps of participants outside the Indy 5000 channel. Obviously I cannot guarantee that participants of the events will not pass on details of others, but Monster Indy 5000 does everything in its power to assure the saftey of participants.
I will disallow members of corps to participate if their corp disrupts the proceedings of any Monster Indy 5000 event.
I asked bl3ach to make an initial post on this forum simply because I was unable to at the time. Hope that clears everything up. Hope to see you on Sunday!
A word to sponsors: If you or your corp wishes to sponsor a pilot in the Monster Indy 5000 can you please have a corp representative contact me so that I can make sure that people know who pilots are sponsored by, otherwise I will assume pilots enter races as independants and will not publise corp details.
Recruitment: Monster Indy 5000 is looking for a few reliable and neutral pilots to act as race marshalls and promoters. I cannot guarantee payment at the moment, we'll just have to see how it goes but I hope I can make it worth your time. Send me an eve-mail is you want to marshall.

I'd take part, but unfortunately I have been falsely accused of tax evasion and all my ships have been impounded until I can clear my name. This is especially annoying as I've recently received my Grade V Industrial pilot's license.
With any luck I'll be in Yulai on Sunday

NEW RULES:
After some conversations with various parties it has been decided to ban 10mn micro warp drives or equivalent named items since it presents an unfair advantage to Iteron Mk 5 pilots who might be able to fit them.
Marshalls will be scanning entrants and will disqualify anyone breaking the rules

Well due to things completely out of my control Monster Indy 5000 take 2 didn't happen either I'm beginning to think it's cursed! (big server crash!!! see told you it was out of my control!)
Anyway I'll be looking at new start locations and changing it from a Sunday night to mid week probably. Stay tuned! This is going to happen even if it kills me (of which it stands a good chance going on the last 2 times!)
Keep an eye for a new and more organised thread, but i'll put a link to it in this one

I Quite understand the Probs of today :( I will however race when everthing is a-ok ,SO hold my entry Fee , but plz dont aoutomatically expect me to be entered on run 3 if it happens mid week , i will enter next chance my shift Allows me to if Thats oki .
BTW i will setup The Endurance/Navigation skill Race and i will chat to Drax About it...For any one interested , it will test more than just speed ,it will also test your scanner skills and you ability to navigate the map , it will be minimum of 40 jumps and will hopefully have higher entrance free , And higher prize money .The expected duration of Race Will Be aprox 2-3 hours , Depending on the regs this may be An event best suited to a crusier ,but I dont expect any hostilitys as Again it will be in 0.5 space or higher.

Just a thought. Maybe it's the people arriving into a normally crowded Yulai that's causing problems for the servers. And though I would agree that this needs to be sorted by CCP, maybe a change in venue to somewhere that will not cause heightened traffic being centred on one system is in order.
The coincidence just looks to uncanny to ignore. Maybe choosing a less busy system to start the race is an answer.

I don't think you can in anyway hold Monster Indy 5000 responsible for the server reboot last sunday, while we had a good number of people, it wasn't a server crashing number!
I had anticipated some lag from Yuali but chose it as neutral territory to begin a competition open to all races, however there were an alarming number of people in Yulai at that time. I will be choosing another start location and am in the process of identifying routes and moving equipment.
I'm not sure there will be one this week, but am hoping to have everything re-organised and re-published for Monday evening. So as ever 'stay tuned'
