Some valid points brought up here... (as well as some less-valid)
First off, I don't consider myself a power-player. I have however been playing since beta, and so would consider myself a veteran player. I took a two month break in the middle to move house, and so have 'only' 9 million skillpoints. I have many many ships, and have lost many ships. I have more money than I know what to do with. I have top level agents. I have Mined, Hauled, PvPed, killed NPCs, done every agent mission 100 times, traded, built, destroyed and back again.
I have reached the end-game stage. Something that shouldn't happen in an MMORPG until they decide to close it down. I can understand it happening to the power-players after a year or so, but I'm not a power-player and it's only been 9-10 months!
Playing a computer game has often been compared to reading a book. The game often presents you with a storyline, and 'reads' it to you as you play. A game is vastly more entetaining than a book because you can actually BE part of the story.
People saying "STFU Create you own content" are basically saying that I have bought a book with a random jumble of words in it, and are saying "STFU, Write your own story". I don't call that a story, I call that a dictionary.
Similarly I would love to see the EVE 'Story' kick into action. So far we have had a few news snippets, a couple of combat-events and little else besides. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the story seems vastly non-existant.
So people say to me "Start again and play as a n00b" Why? The only thing that would change is giving away all my posessions, which won't change the fact that there is nothing new in the game for me. If having posessions is the be all and end all, sure that'd fix it. But it's not, the posessions are just a means to an end.
Some people say "You need PvP" But I already have PvPed. But I've done that too. We had a great war in Fountain with m00 + others, but once you've been in one lag-match, all the others seem to be the same but with different colours. Also, I don't like PvP. My play-style is that of a crafter, which is sadly lacking at the moment in-game. I like working constructively towards a goal, rather than destroying someone else hard work.
As far as I see, a MMORPG should always give you a worth-while goal to works towards. Maybe that is setting up your own alliance, maybe that is trying to take control of a region. Or maybe it's something more tied to game mechanics such as gaining a +10.0 Amarr standing so that you can get access to a shiny new Apoc...
In the mean time... No, you may NOT have my stuff...
