Odd that a game that is so open and 'free' in the sense that you can do whatever you like including defrauding other players would have forums that are one of the stronger bastions of fascism as forums go.
Makes me wonder if Iceland is a fascist country in general, I mean it is pretty cold there from what I understand. Generally I would conclude that harsh environments require stronger communities, and subsequently the need to give up certain personal liberties for the greater good. Yet I understand that they are a long standing democracy with strong ideas about freedom of speech and personal freedom. As I said very odd.
Anyway just something I was thinking about while trapped at work.

Perhaps, but I would argue that these forums, and subsequently their rules, are a means of communication for the player base of Eve and therefor very much related to the game. Honestly, players and the interaction between them is what MMOs are all about.

Yes, the forums are related to the game. No, the game is not related to real life. -

Well, disregarding that this post is a complete WTF?? you are completely wrong in your assumptions.
It is a fact backed by a lot of research done that the "colder countries" (scandinavia, canada etc) are the ones that also are most democratic and strong believers in the freedom of speech. A notable exception in my mind would be Russia, but they have a complete history of their own why that is the case.
It might rather be that because people live in cold, deserted countries, they are more prone toward intellectual thinking instead of frolicking around on beaches and being generally sweaty faced and angry.

Axe to grind, do you need it? OIC, you already have one.
Look, man, this isn't a public area. The forum belongs to CCP; it's their house. Even in very free countries, a man can order you to leave his house if you're saying things he doesn't allow / agree with / approve of, and he doesn't have to let you put banners up on his walls, either. He can remove them.
In a private club (which almost all Internet forums are), they don't have to let you speak or even allow you entry.
You must be new to the Intartubes.

Edited by: Ryuu Katsu on 12/01/2008 03:09:04 Edited by: Ryuu Katsu on 12/01/2008 03:08:02 Iceland is far from being fascist and funnily enough the UN just vote Iceland as the best country in the world to live in aka.:
UN Names Icelans as best country to live for 2007.
ps. And for interests sake USA came in at number 12 dropping from 8th place from last year and Africa came out at the bottom.
edit: A couple of mistypes due to late night posting..zzZZzzz.

Is OP ******** or something?
Judging an entire country fascist because a few forum mods lock some topics and you can kill people in a fictional universe made by an Icelandic company is simply foolish beyond belief.
I am Danish. I have killed people in EVE and I have locked/deleted topics in the forum I moderate. Therefore, I, as well as my entire country, must be fascist and enforce the harsh, harsh laws of my country with an ironfist where you die if you jaywalk and speak louder than 5 dB. Also, because I have randomly killed people in EVE and other games, it must be commonplace that murders occur randomly on the streets of Denmark.
Dear OP, do you not see where your logic fails?
