Get some of them little tomatoes, cut them in half.
Stick them on baking tray.
Take olive oil, mix with basil.
Pour basil/olive oil over tomoatoes.
Slam in hot oven until tomatoes get done.
Serve on bed of salad with goats cheese.

When I'm hungry but too lazy to either cook or go out, I just make a salad.
My salad tips:
* As base, the usual tomatoes (my preference is the Raff kind) and assorted greens (I buy precut mixtures in bags to save time and hassle). * Apples and onions go very well together - just chop and throw them in. * Avocados and parmesan cheese play along together rather nicely too (avoid the ground parmesan crap you buy from a package to pour into pasta, get a whole piece and just cut it in slabs with one of those utensils). * If you're feeling particularly adventurous, add a sliced banana to the above apple, onion, avocado and parmesan cheese party. * You may add other vegetables you have laying around (cucumbers, carrots, mushrooms, etc.), but the above are the essentials for me. * Do not forget to chop a handful of nuts on top of it all. * As dressing, generous pourings of a good virgin olive oil and Modena balsamic vinegar over the whole thing. * Before mixing, I then add a pouring of an "Italian spices" jar I buy in the market (salt, pepper, dried tomatoes, basil, and other things). * A loaf of fresh bread is a must to go along with it (no not sandwich bread, _real_ bread). * Eat and be happy.

Alton Brown's Guacamole Recipe
3 Haas avocados, halved, seeded and peeled 1 lime, juiced 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon cayenne 1/2 medium onion, diced 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro 1 clove garlic, minced
In a large bowl place the scooped avocado pulp and lime juice, toss to coat. Drain, and reserve the lime juice, after all of the avocados have been coated. Using a potato masher add the salt, cumin, and cayenne and mash. Then, fold in the onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. Add 1 tablespoon of the reserved lime juice. Let sit at room temperature for 1 hour and then serve.
I make this all the time. You'll never use store bought guac again.

Gai Yang
2 lb chicken (breast, drumstick, thigh and wing) 1/3 cup Thai oyster sauce 6 cloves garlic (minced) 1 tsp black pepper 1 tbsp Thai soy sauce 1 tbsp sugar 1 tsp sea salt 1/4 cup minced lemon grass (optional)
Combine oyster sauce, garlic, black pepper, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and lemon grass (optional) in a bowl. Mix ingredients together thoroughly and apply as a marinade to the chicken. Refrigerate for at least 15-20 minutes (overnight is much, much better though)
Grill for about 40 minutes or so occassionaly turning. You can roast it in a oven at 375 for about the same time but it's not as good imo.
Serve with chili sauce, Green Papaya Salad, and sticky rice
It's about time we had a cooking thread in here.

Just did this for dinner:
Pasta with Scallops and Lemon Butter
1 handful frozen scallops (defrosted, although if you can't be bothered, cook em for a little longer from frozen) 1 good blob of butter 1 crushed garlic clove zest of half a lemon salt pepper
Pasta
Lemon juice and parmesan to serve
1) Set your pasta cooking 2) Melt your butter in a pan, add the garlic and scallops and fry gently until just cooked 3) Add the lemon zest, salt and pepper and stir until heated through 4) Drain the pasta and stir the butter mixture through until well-coated 5) Grate over some parmesan and black pepper
Et Voilß .

CCP Whisper's Chicken Curry:
- 500g chicken breast, cut into thumb-sized chunks - 400g potatoes, peeled and quartered - 4 heaped tablespoons of finely chopped fresh ginger - 2 heaped tablespoons of finely chopped garlic - 1 medium sized onion, diced - 1 can of chickpeas - 1 can of coconut milk - 100g red lentils, washed and allowed to soak for 2 hours - Half a litre of chicken stock - Madras curry powder to taste - Salt and Pepper to taste
Take large stewpot, heat up splash of vegetable oil. Fry ginger, garlic and onions over a medium heat until the onions start to go translucent. Add some curry powder and stir well, then add the chicken and fry, stirring gently, until you have seared the outside of all the pieces (no raw meat to be seen). Add the potatoes, chickpeas and the coconut milk, stir gently, then top up with stock until the contents of the pot are barely covered. Add curry powder, salt and pepper to taste. Bring to boil, then drain the lentils and add them to the pot. Simmer gently until potatoes and lentils are done, stirring occasionally. Serve with boiled rice.
The quantities are a rough guide as I tend to gauge quantities by sight when cooking this dish, so you may have to adjust a bit to match your circumstances. You can use drumsticks and thighs instead of cubed breast.

Do you reckon it's better soaking the red lentils for a couple hours? I sometimes cook curries in a somewhat similar way, but I just throw the red lentils in straight after washing them.
I soak when cooking with the other types of lentils, but for some reason I thought with red lentils it was not necessary... though I may be mistaken about this, I never tried soaking them and perhaps they do have a softer texture otherwise.

I use the red lentils as a bulking agent in this recipe, with the intention of having them dissolve during the simmering process and thereby making the curry thicker. It works ok if you throw them straight in after washing, but the soaking hurries along the process of breaking them down which minimises the risk of burning the other ingredients through too long a boil.

I learned it from my mother, much like many of the Asian recipes in my repertoire. I have a nice shelf of cookbooks but the ones I make the most are the ones I got from family or friends over the years.
Oh, and hello Jenny...you probably don't remember it but you podded my player character once. Was one of the proudest moments of my fledgling pilot career.

Have you tried running it under some hot water for a bit, then trying to open it with a towel?
Bonus recipe: All-purpose Asian Marinade
- 100ml Oyster sauce - 3 tablespoons of honey - 2 tablespoons curry powder - 2 heaped tablespoons finely chopped ginger - 2 heaped tablespoons finely chopped garlic - Splash of light soy sauce - Fresh ground pepper - Salt to taste
Mix it all together and smear all over chicken, beef, pork...whatever you want. cook straight from the bowl you marinated in, no need to wipe off the marinade. Works for stir frying, grilling and baking.
