Agreed. It would be a great shame if they stopped it.
QFT
The concept provides me with motivation to make money in Eve. At the end of the day, I hope to give everything to charity. In fact, my biggest fear now is that CCP have stopped doing this, which would be a death blow to my Eve life.
I think Viaris did the right thing and gave everything he had to charity for the Japan drive. I did not have the guts at the time (or the money for that matter) to do the same. Just praying that CCP open it at least once more, so I can finally do something useful with these pixels. Any colour you like. |

Am really happy that CCP have opened this drive :)
I've liquidated assets for the VAERT sister fund that I run (CSGAMEZCF013) and am glad to report that I ended up a little more that the estimated NAV of 6,398,465,434.57 and managed to get 12 PLEXes (at around 605m each). Will donate to CCP later today and post the evidence here.
In the meantime I am also auctioning off a T2 BPO for charity. The auction will run till Dec. 1. I would be grateful for your interest and/or a friendly bump. Any colour you like. |

I've set up a contract for 13 PLEXes on behalf of the CSGAMEZCF013 fund. Managed to squeeze out one more (than 12) PLEX (at 609m) overnight, and the NAV of the fund is now at 29m.
This culminates more than two and a half years of fund maintenance. I started the fund with a capital of 500m. The fund took a hit when the Japan drive was announced soon after the start. Donated one PLEX at the time from the fund, and kept reinvesting the money over the years, using a separate corp wallet division, and trading in just one item (to decrease confusion).
So it is back to square one. Will start the cycle again, and see what this 29m ends up as.
In the meantime I am liquidating my other assets to try and donate as much possible in these 2 weeks. In this context I would be grateful for bumps/bids on my T2 BPO auction for charity. Any colour you like. |

RAW23 wrote: Bumpss incoming for the auction thread (also a great idea and very generous).
Thanks for the bump!
The idea stemmed from Krashion's post in VV's first (locked) thread about helping Philippines. Looking forward to the bidding. Any colour you like. |

Bad Bobby wrote:Quote:CCP Bro will also have another Dev Blog lined up for you next Wednesday, November 27th, with more details of a surprise that will hopefully make this the most successful PLEX for GOOD drive to date. How about a cheap PLEX promotion? e.g. $10 PLEXes for one week.
Should one then wait till 27th before buying more PLEXes for charity, or should one buy immediately? Any colour you like. |

Thank you VV. Maintaining the fund gives meaning to my Eve life, and it is great to have someone to send updates to!
I'm also trying to generate funds by liquidating assets at high prices for charity. Hope it works. Any colour you like. |

Vaerah Vahrokha wrote:Very glad to see this initiative coming up! Wish you announced it a bit earlier, I'd have had 80B to send you for this. But better late than never!
Announced just at the right time for me to double the proceeds from my T2 BPO auction :)
Also going to liquidate other assets to try and contribute as much as possible towards this.

Vaerah Vahrokha wrote:For clarity of accounting sake, I'd like to get an official NAV statement by the Sister Funds owners: Arcy Dorei, Chribba, Samroski. I sent you one after donation of 13 plexes from the fund (probably on the 23rd). The NAV was 29m. If you like I can send you another, as the NAV has increased to about 50m.

Nanatoa wrote: Could you elaborate a bit on that? It seems to me the root cause of his decision was that his 2.5B wasn't boosted in the donation made on Friday morning. Why did you make a donation at that time? Why didn't you just tell Samroski "this was just the first batch of isk, I'll boost your isk in the final batch after the deadline (friday downtime." instead of posting a 300 word essay with 'if's and 'but's?
These were my unvoiced questions. Because I do not doubt VV's integrity, I decided to leave things be. I wanted to give VV the benefit of doubt, as I have had a long association with him, and know that he would not deliberately do anything wrong.
When VV posted that the ISK had been donated, accurate to the last decimal, it would have been nice to have got the 3 options at that time- not many hours later after I had posted to ask what had happened to my ISK. Had I been informed at that time of the American donor etc. and the plan to boost the ISK later (or the simple statement suggested above by Nanatoa), I would have left the 2.5b with VV. In the circumstances, I decided to withdraw the 2.5b on principle. I honestly felt that we were just dealing with just a few billion, and keeping, and posting an accurate record of a handful of donors, and keeping people informed of any future plans was not a very tough job.
Having said that, I also know that VV is involved in many other initiatives related to PLEX for Good, and I also want to give him leeway in this context; juggling many things at one time can be tricky.
At the end of the day, my interest is in getting the ISK to charity, and I am grateful to AC155, Chribba and VV for motivating others to donate. It does not really matter who donated more. I am positive that there were no bad intentions on VV's part, and this minor incident should not overshadow his long time efforts for charity via Eve.

VV thank you for the clarification, and the personal correspondence in this matter. The misunderstanding was entirely on my part, and I apologize for for my hasty decisions and comments. Look forward to continuing out joint efforts for charity via Eve. Any colour you like. |
