Yeah welcome to EVE to those from Earth and Beyond. If any of the Ufop guildies from Orion server run across this, shoot me word. When I played E&B I went by the name Orddos or Collins.

I'm sure to many folks losing their Earth and Beyond community, it seems like a cruel blow that EA is cancelling the game come September, but I think everyone coming to this game from that one will see that Eve Online is just vastly superior in terms of depth and complexity, with many more options available to you than you could have imagined in E&B.
And (confession time) I should know--when I came to Eve in beta 5, I had a high level Jenquai Explorer in Earth and Beyond. After literally fifteen minutes of playing Eve, I cancelled my E&B account and haven't once missed that game.
If any of you new folks--either Earth and Beyond or not--have any questions, hit your forums, hit the in-game help channel, ask around in your local systems, etc. Because of the stunning array of options availble in Eve, there can be a bit of a learning curve at first.
Welcome to Eve, guys. I'm sure you're gonna love it.

Thanks very much for the welcome. I played primarily in Orion myself, although I did time in all galaxies, starting as a beta.
My experience here has been very bad. I did not receive my free trial, my card was charged effective immediately and several emails and questions to customer service have gone unanswered. I feel like I am still with EA and their strikingly casual attitude towards the accuracy of information and worse lack of concern about customer care. But not for long. Due to the lack of response to the improper card charge, I have cancelled my account (apparently effective in 30 days - no free trial time included - already charged for) and intend to complain to the authorities and issuers and merchant account handlers here in the US, the "Laws of the Republic of Iceland" notwithstanding.
Nothing in my experience was as they said in their teaser ad. This combined with their careful avoidance of providing any real world way to contact them and their failure to respond at all to my email and question inquiries is not good at all and something I am sure the authorities can sort out.
Don't take the money if you can't provide what you offer.
The only good experience I had here was a fellow EnB refugee from Orion who was here for 3 days and tried to help. The people were the best part of EnB as I am sure they are here. But I have had enough of instant billing combined with, to put in kindly, a leisurely attitude toward accuracy and customer service.
Good luck to all EnB''ers here. I will miss you.

When did you email them? I don't know how many joined as a result of the EnB advert, but I noticed there were over 1200 additional players online on Sunday night (usually the peak population). I'm sure they'll get to you, but they might be a bit overwhelmed with customer support queries at the moment.
You shouldn't have had to enter your credit card details to take advantage of the offer, though if your keycode didn't work perhaps that wasn't very clear. Neverthless, I don't think it amounts to an improper card charge, since you did in fact subscribe to the full game, albeit in error. The server doesn't know this, and it will take a real person to sort it out, which I'm sure they will do as soon as they can. I hope you get it resolved, and that you at least enjoy your in-game experience. Welcome to Eve

When EA announced that EnB was being shut down in September I decided that I wouldn't continue to play with my little characters until the last minute hoping for a reprieve.
I told them to cancel my subscription at the end of my current billing period and started looking for a new Sci-Fi Space MMORPG to immerse myself in.
I started looking and found Eve.
I purchased an account for 30 days to get a good feel of the game and started playing.
After 30 minutes of playing I had one thought in my mind.
WOW. This game is massive and makes EnB look like dull.
And after learning how to play and fly around I started really having some fun.
The best thing is undocking and finding someone docking a Vexor Cruiser and wanting to pilot a ship that big around!
Yummy. If things continue the way they have been I will be staying. J.

I also emailed them because I couldn't find a proper petition type to get help in game for a bug that ate some ISK. They never emailed me back, so I'm guessing, if you need help or have a problem, try using the Help channel because they don't answer emails :(
Plus your not the only one to get stiffed on the free trial, I've gotten 2 friends now to try out the game, both never received a key when they were supposed to for the 10 free days, and ended up having to pay for a month instead just to get in.
You know CCP, it wouldn't hurt to test things out once in a while. It's to go off breaking records, but if you can't retain the people your getting to sign up, whats the point?

Zasra, im sure you will get an answer from CCP, ore more correctly, from file planet.
Anyway, i have had a few instances of needing GM or CS help, and have always been treated fairly by them, adn fast enough if i may add.
The fact that sending in a petition takes 5 minutes does not mean sorting your problem does.
And indeed, the subscriber numbers have exploded this and last week due to the new free trial offer and EnB shutting down. I would think CCP is somewhat swarmed at the moment. _______________________________________________

I also want to Thank everyone who has been so helpful to all of us coming over from Earth and Beyond. It was quite crushing to have Uber Maxed Character over there on Andromeda and to come here and have to start over. I must say I was quite overwhelmed, and still am very confused about the purpose of this game. I had some great help from you all, some of you giving Old Blue Prints, or helping me get around, and we are in the process of brining our Guild over and just set up the Order of Chivalry Corporation in three Offices. A Small Start however a very exciting time for all of us coming over. I know several have parted and went the other way, espically with the Hard Interface we are forced to learn, but it isnt that bad once you get to know it, I still cant figure out Escrow, or Shares and all of that, but it will come in time.
Thanks again

Thank you for your welcome! Im currently a refugee from EnB on the 10 day trial! Since there are not many tempting space mmog around i agreed on this one to try out! Maybe it is because im a refugee here i dont like it much.. i were happy where i was, and now its no more! Well, its still there, but its ghosttown now! I like the simplicity of EnB, that is, i think, why i at the beginning started to play it! This however, are far more advanced.. which is good in a way! More realistic! Good too.. in a way! But i still say EnB is my game of choice if it wasnt ending!
But since many of my guildies moved here, i will stay here until i find anything better! Im in beta of Lineage 2 now, and it looks promesing! We'll see how it turns out! The future is uncertain!

Drop me a line and if I knew you I will hook you up with as much isk I can. And a Giant Secure Container of stuff that is very valuable. This game rocks. I'm a former E&B player too, Hawthorn/Whitethorn of Meta's Mafia on Orion. Most of my old guild have moved over as well in the last week or so and we're starting to find our feet a little.
I started looking at other Sci-Fi MMORPGs a couple of weeks before the announcement that E&B was being canned, not because I was bored with the game but because things seemed to be reaching a make-or-break point. When EA made the announcement, I already knew what I'd try next, so downloaded the 10-day trial that night and have been playing Eve ever since.
The features available in Eve make E&B look like a kids game in comparison. It has a much more advanced and flexible interface, one of the most flexible character development systems I have ever seen, many more ship options (although you can't do custom paint jobs), and vastly superior market and Corp management systems. Its also HUGE in comparison with the small E&B galaxy I was used to, anthough the auto-pilot in Eve helps a lot.
The community in E&B was great, and that in Eve seems just as good and has been a great help with getting me started. There are always people online in the help channel who are more than happy to give advice and pointers to the newbies, although I suppose they must be getting a little bored answering the same set of newbie questions daily with the influx from E&B.
The only area where E&B was better (from a builder's point of view) is that you can't currently get blueprints for something in Eve by breaking down a piece of equipment, although there has been mention of a forthcoming skill called reverse engineering. The ability to trade and copy Blueprints is good too, although there doesn't seem to be a way to create one from scratch other than copying an existing blueprint.
The only disadvantage I have found with starting Eve after the game has been running so long is that most of the stations are already fully occupied, and station space - especially laboratory space - is almost impossible to come by. Hopefully that is just down to my experiences in the limited area I have explored so far and I'll be able to find space once I have spread my wings further.
Thanks to all those who have been so helpful over the last couple of weeks, its made the transition from E&B to Eve much smoother than it could have been

Hey, I remember playing Eve beta a long time ago and so I thought id give it a try again. What ive discovered is mining is way too boring ( just as it was before) and the only way to rise throught the ranks is finding a good NPC killing agent. I easily afforded 3 rifters and 2 merlins in 3 days! Wow it was so easy getting money. However since i was on a ten day trial i decided to go all out and train what i needed to kill. Ends up I went to Kisogo and kill some people. Well as soon as i let the first 2 rounds fly outta my 280mm I was immediately swarmed by cops and taken out slowly (surprisingly to their lack of power). Well the poor buzzard i had killed didnt have time to realize WTH happened and was half mad\confused at me. Since I was quittin, I gave him all my money (270k) and told him to empty out my cargo hold (which had about 80-100k worth of stuff in it) and sell or use the parts....... ahh that was an experience.

Fergie here from Orion and I like this game. More depth to it and the autopilot feature is great for traveling. What is really nice is no one crying that I'm ksing while hunting. Infact I had a whole system to myself for over 6 hours, was fun killing pirates, alone with no whining or somebody wanting to be power leveled.

In fact after i cancelled my enb subscription and got the standard EA "why are you leaving" questionaire - dumb ****s - cos you're pulling the plug maybe??!!!, i suggested they look at the way CCP treat their customers....AS CUSTOMERS! I was in the E&B Beta, after which I stuck around for a couple months. While haveing the account I was one of the victims of one of those odd unexplainable bugs (most bugs don't make sense anyway) that they didn't find common enough to fix. Getting onto the game was hit-or-miss as the constant patching froze, etc., etc.
I find Eve much better. I'll give it more time than my 3 days thus far before I comment on it in further detail. I came over here with 4-5 other players from a different game (Homeworld & Homeworld2) and we've enjoyed it thus far.
Since I've been on Eve (3rd night), I've been repeatedly invited to corporations. It's almost to a point that I want to block conversations . I have other plans for my loyalties (no, won't be a pirate!).
