Yeah everyone, I'm just saying here that it is not worth the extra mouse clicks to engage a target. The client-server lag that is present in the game is already enough that clicking to do something, then waiting for it to execute, then targeting someone can take seconds! It is too long of a time to wait for some ships.
Now I do take back that I do not believe you could activate modules such as sensor boosters etc while under cloak, but you COULD target people. I so reply to this thread of awesome signers and celebrities to tell them to keep posting! _________________ Burn. |

As a MAJOR consumer of cloaking...
NO.
The cloaking enabled by jumping is a protective measure, in large part for lag. It should remain a passive protection and should not be allowed to be used as a bonus for attacking.
So why is it you can initiate warp while cloaked? Surely to be 'fair' you should be forced to start moving and decloak before your warp command will be accepted by the server. The cloak is only in place to make sure you don't die before you load (lol, has happened to me more times than I can count - good going ccp) and should not give an advantage to either the attacker or defender.
Make it so both actions can be used to break cloak, or neither of them.
Agreed, I would say the latter. Make it consistent

How is it a bonus you f*ckIng ret*rd?
Does a ship sat on the gate have to move before locking something? No it doesnt.
It was fine before Trinity and im assuming this is just a bug or CCP are playing the "Lets fix things that aint broken" game again.
Well, you must be one of those people who subscribe to the fact that just because you have been doing it in the past, it must be the correct way to do it.
Very sad, if it were not for ret*rds like me, you would probably be carving out of stone to post on a forum.
It is a bonus because it gives you an ability you would not normally have to attack someone who is not cloaked and does not have the same advantage as you in either:
a) knowing where you are b) being able to target YOU
All this with no need for modules or skills. A ship already sitting at a gate is not cloaked.. and if it is, it needs to de-cloak. You already have the advantage by being cloaked off the bat.
If you don't consider that a bonus or an advantage, I cant help you, but just because it was active before does not man it was right.

Activating modules decloaks you after a jump. /notsigned
Why? How easy would it be to catch an indy with proto cloak if it never even shows up on the overview for that split second that double-clicking empty space before activating the cloak allows? Oh you won't be able to as it won't show up.
That indy will just have to lock you and hit his cloak button now, which will break the lock and he will be able to re-cloak 1 second faster since he doesnt have to click in empty space...
FFS gate jumping cloak is a defensive effect, click on space and appear on everyone elses client before you actually insta target someone..

Originally by: Siigari Kitawa Edited by: Siigari Kitawa on 13/01/2008 18:01:30 It used to be that you could lock a target while you were cloaked at a gate. Granted, you cannot with a cloaking MODULE but you could at a gate. This would cause you to decloak. And, not only that, but would make things a lot easier such as toggling on mods such as microwarpdrives and guns and all that.
Now, when you are at a gate cloaked, you can't activate any sort of module at all, and you can't LOCK targets to bring yourself out of cloak. This makes following targets through gates difficult as you must first double click empty space, then wait for the server to resolve the client, then asfdfajkl the target warped away.
CCP, please give us back our old cloaking mechanics at the gate. Thanks.
Not quite sure what your problem is...... control and point frantic mouse click, you start moving to would be victim turning on mwd and then disruptor all done in a bout 1.5 sec. The amount of delay you are talking about is pretty irrelevant.

Look IÆll swap you.
I will allow you to start to lock me while gate cloaked if you allow me to module cloak while gate cloaked. That will allow you to lock me before I know you are thereā.... and you will never know I was there. If I have to double click then you have to double click.

Hi, I don't know if you play EVE, but to someone trying to get a lock, 1.5 seconds is an eternity. _________________ Burn. |

even a "decloak" button would work, I hate having to move to decloak to either target or re-cloak or runaway!!!

I have to agree with the OP. As far as I know the general player base was fine with it before and the change was an artifact of the upgrade (at least I don't remember it from the patch notes).
Ultimately, it's annoying and slow as hell to get anything going now. Add my voice to those asking that it be put back the way it was.

Yes, please fix this CCP. I would guess most people here saying that this new 'feature' should stay don't have much experience locking things that aren't asteroids or rats...
This and being able click through a locked target are my two biggest annoyances with trinity thus far. -----
