This event is designed to be run weekly. Each week the event takes place in proximity to one of the four newbie areas. Preferably a system with no stations that isnÆt used very often.
Participants are invited over the previous week by myself flying through the systems near to the next event. Id plan to talk to as many players who are younger than 1 month and still in newbie corps. All work of this nature would be done by myself (or an alt) during the same time as the event would be planed for. I would whip up a short IGB webpage to help people get all the details, and know what to expect.
On the night, any players who arrive during the allotted operation time will be allocated to a fleet and then meet at a safe spot. Squad commanders will warp from the safe spots to deploy a number of cans containing the Goal Items. These must be worthless, non-tradable items (otherwise people will just steal them!) Pilots will not know where their enemies cans are located at the start of the operation. The objective is to steal your opponents items from their can and return them to your own cans. Once an item has been taken from a can, the enemy fleet will able to be aggressed immediately. Squadron commanders will have to organise scouting patrols to locate the enemy cans. Combat begins as soon as the first item has been stolen. Once this happens it is up to the squadron commanders to coordinate the attack and defence of cans. Combat begins at the designated time, and continues until downtime or until all but one player is destroyed. At the end of the combat, each fleet scores points for each can that has at least one item inside it. If one fleet has the last ship then it earns an additional point.
Communications ALL pilots must join a public channel ALL squad commanders must join a separate channel (both sides) Fleet comms are conducted via Fleet/Squad channels
The Rules (stolen from Ultimate Frigate Championship and modified): -Contestants will submit their request to join via Eve Mail. Ship type is requested but not mandatory. -Podding will result in instant disqualification and ban. -Cheating will result in instant disqualification and ban. -Only T1 Fittings are allowed. No T2 boosters, no T2 weapons, no T2 anything! T1 Drones are allowed. -Officer and Faction mods are not allowed. -Rigs are not allowed. -Only T1 Frigates are eligible to enter. -Looting of your opponents wreckage will not be allowed. -Spectators are welcome to stop by, but interference will not be tolerated (keep it clean!) -You may not dock or leave the system during the battle -You may not swap fitting between fights. Swapping of ammo is allowed. -Returning in a larger ship for a vendetta kill will result in a permanent ban from future tournaments.
Entry Each new player who participates until the end of the battle will receive 250,000isk to help cover ship loss and equipment, regardless of whether or not their ship was destroyed. Players who wish to become Squad Commanders MUST have participated before. The entry fee for Squad Commanders will be 250,000 isk (it is assumed you enjoyed yourself enough to help fund the event somewhat) Players who have participated before are invited to return, however no isk bonus will be offered (you should have a decent income within a week of beginning your eve career) Ship losses and expenses are not covered by the organizer nor any parties involved in the damage caused.
PRIZES The winning side will earn 3mil isk split between them. This is only an arbitrary sum (and the best I can afford to do weekly). The prize money will also include any and all entrance fees paid by players and donations made by generous parties. Such donations are welcome to be paid at the nights end directly to the winning players.

ANTI-SCAM As you can see, for a new player it would be very difficult to trust an older character who is inviting them to try some ôexcitingö EVE PVP. Im undecided whether the 250k isk bonus for first time new players is a good idea. On one hand it may make the whole event look that little more dodgy. Due to the nature of the event, the bonus cannot be paid until the end.
RECRUITMENT While my current corp is not looking to use this event as a recruitment drive, im sure there are many other corps who want an easier way to check out the new talent (without the risk of recruiting potential spies directly into their corp).
ThatÆs basically the whole idea for the moment. Im sure I left some things out. Critique and Loophole finding will be MUCHLY appreciated. I havenÆt done anything like this before and I think I will need all the help I can get.

Will this be restricted solely to new players? What about players (such as myself) who started out as pure miners and are looking to gain more experience in PVP?

when it starts id would be happy to involve ALL interested parties. Looking at how it would work, i think it would be hard for people to deliberately grief involved players.
Can anyone think of a loop hole that could be exploited to ruin everyones fun?
Having discussed this with some peeps in RL id be looking at start this fairly soon (after writing the rules up in an official manner and re-posting)
