With the state of communicaiton on Eve so cumbersome in the heat of battle, we need to be offered alternative methods to charge gate tolls. I believe a lot of people needlessly lose their ships because they do not see the pirates demand for cash in the local window, or they mistakenly click Decline when we try to convo them. This results in their ship being destroyed when they could have saved it if we could only garauntee they see our demands and they are given the ability to QUICKLY respond.
We need the ability to right click the target, select "Initiate Pirate Transaction", and click OK. the victim gets a popup, that does NOT take focus so they can continue to operate menus and modules, etc. The window I envision has a portrait of the pirate demanding the toll at the top, and the demands clearly written out in bold, large text. If the victim agrees, they click OK. they get another promts asking them if they are SURE they agree. If they click agree again, the $$$ is tranferred to the pirates account.

Unless after accepting the cash, all locks onto you are undone

And then of course the victim knows for sure that pirates await him at the gate and turns around. And what happens if the pirates are at a gate the victim is jumping in to?

I think the suggestion regards people that are withing range of a player. I mean how is a pirate going to know who is going to jump into a system so they can use this pirate transaction before entering via the gate? The above text is my own views which may not represent my corps views.

Aye, like you will need to have someone targeted to do the Initiate Pirate Transaction. Then once it's accepted (if it is) then ALL locks on the person are broken (Includes the pirates friends that are w/ him)

I think this would be great as long as if money is paid out, not only can the player who paid not be locked onto for 5 min but also then he cant lock onto anyone for that same 5 min. Otherwise he would have a field day trashing pirates.

That would be so open to exploitation.
Right click on target>Spam Target With Dialogue Boxes.
Even if you find somewhere on the screen thats unobtrusive, if you get enough people spamming that command at you then i) something will get covered ii) it'll create enough client-side lag to annoy you or stop you from running away etc.
Nice idea in principle (like most ideas) but a recipe for disaster and some nice petition queues. |

Sounds like a very interesting idea that would help out a lot. As with all good ideas, the hard part is putting it in without causing horrid side effects that become exploitable. Perhaps rather then a Popup Window per transaction request, a Log style window pops up and scrolls all requests like Chat. This way you can't be flooded by Popups.

The problems mentioned as replies here already exist, and will continue to exist, most likely. This is simply an easier way for pirate and victim to negotiate a release. Currently, you can pay a pirate and be blown away anyway. If the pirates have no honor and you know this, just dont pay. Their bad reputations will follow them. Also, the convo request issue is still happening, I think, where several members try to open a convo at one time. This could be handled in various ways also. My point is I have talked to many people that did not even know we were demanding $$$. This gives them a chance to react quickly in the interest of saving their ships.
