Originally by: Lord Jeebus I contacted Eclipse yesterday about their traffic shaping policies. They have said that they never block any ports however if during peak hours you go over their FUP for your level of service they will switch you to a 256k line for peak hours for the rest of that month.
Their top pack comes unlimited but they reserve the right to traffic shape if you use over 50gb peak.
Check out previous threads regarding Eclipse and who owns them and the fact is was not long ago since Eclipse users were on the warpath about not being able to connect to Eve for the exact same reasons.
As said in other thread this is not a port blocking nor FUP issue.
Tiscali have openly said they are doing this and there are links in the Tiscali stickies to all relevent information. The link to all this is Tiscali as you will see.

Originally by: Cragen o'mass i am also from milton keynes. guess pipex upgraded the exchange here or something, cos that is about the same time that things went wrong for me 4pm saturday. well just got on this morning to set a long skill and will be phoning pipex when i finish work today to get a mac so i can change provider.
is a real shame as up until this point pipex has been very good but i am not willing to mess around trying to persuade them to let me play eve.
On a side note CCP should probably get their lawyers to have a word with tiscali about lost revenue because depending how long it takes to get this sorted i might have to postpone payment of my account till i have a new provider, also if someone wanted to do the trial and can't play, they are probably not going to start playing eve.
As far as CCP ar concerned it is nothing to do with them, they have made it clear several times.
Please do make sure Pipex know why you are changinging, and avoid other Tiscali related companies, do check who owns your new ISP and further to that who's systems they actually use.
Happy Eveing.

Well it's been going on for at least 6 months now. It shows the quality of their technical people are if the can't resolve the problem. I seems pretty obvious that their routers etc are set to block ports at specific times.
BTW I worked for Tiscali for about 4 months a few years ago and they are possibly the worst company I have ever worked for.
Please look at the tiscali stickies for what the problem is. They do not block specific ports, and we don't want people going down the wrong path and demanding 26000 be opened all over again.
