Most games I have been in people that say they are hacked shared their password often by say mailing it...
someone leaves the game, an account changes hands... someone fishes through the mail and starts account hopping ... looks for the one with most value.
Or is it key logging tricks on outside sites? Or what?

RMT is CCP's deserved punishment for refusing to deal with the bot problem.
The punishments for RMT are way too strict and should be brought into line with the Bot punishments ie 3 slaps on the wrist before they do anything. |

The usual problem is re-using passwords. Hackers in poor countries make money by busting into forums that use obsolete software, and then steal the password/username/email database. They then sell password-email pairs for a few dollars.
People that want to bust into eve accounts buy these cheap lists, and see if they can get matches to actual accounts.
If you use a unique log in name and password for EVE ( and maybe even an email just for gaming accounts only, and not forum use ), you won't get "hacked".

Account is now minus 300m isk and no word back from CCP
I have a petition in as its clear that the transaction took place before char was sold but its still a major PITA .

1. jenspg's account get hacked (and probaply ripped off) by a very bad guy
2. the very bad guy decides to make some extra profit by selling "jenspg" for real money at some shaddy internet place
3.Dalas Lt decides to buy "jenspg" and pays the very bad guy with real money
4.the very bad guys sells "jenspg" to Dalas Lt at eve marketplace. To make it look like a "real" deal he sends Dalas Lt. 10 bill (RMT) ISK which Dalas Lt. sends to ( hacked ) jenspg |

The chances, that your "personel" RMT-trader is by chance the seller of that specific desired char is quite negligible, if not to say astromical small.
Its the hacked character (not the ISK) which Dalas Lt bought for "real money". Those 10 Bill ISK are just used as a buisiness/confidence tool.
Step 1: Offer a char for real money on a trader site
Step 2: The character gets sold for real money
Step 3:The new owner gets a temporary ISK donation by the seller (EULA BREAK because its RMT isk)
Step 4: The customer gets his bought character via the character basar. In selling prozess he pays back the temporay ISK donation to the (real money) character- seller.
I fail to see a better explanation for the revealed facts.
