Is it me or are scan probes bugged. Dont get me wrong I have high skills in scanning but niether recon nor racial scan probes seem to pick up hardly anything. I have 37 probes in one system dotted about and all I am picking up is a damn impairor in a sun. Has anyone else noticed this or are CCP/GM's aware of this?

Edited by: Danjira Ryuujin on 15/01/2008 23:47:13 Sounds like you're using probes with a really tiny range. Try something with a large range first. If you find anything of interest, warp to that point and try a more accurate probe that will cover the deviation.
Snoop probes for example have a 20au range. You'll find a ton of crap with that. Although with longer range probes, they are more likely to miss things as well.
Another thing to keep in mind, you have to actually select additional probes if you want them to scan. So you click the first probe in your scan window, and then ctrl+click the second. You can't use more than 5 at once with max skills.

Edited by: Guddah on 15/01/2008 23:51:10 Heh, like i said, I have a lot of skills in scanning, I know what I am doing :)
I have used 20au, 10au, 5au, quest, comb etc etc and still nothing.
BTW spook probes are 20au and you can use more than 5 probes at once, you can only scan up to 5 different things at once, i.e ships, drones, structures etc etc

it sounds like your using exploration probes to scan out a person, and that wont work. Comb, quest etc will only work to find exploration sites. Conversly if your using exploration probes and want to find exploration sites, then your using th2 wrong scan groups, use cosmic anomaly and cosmic signature. Also you may be scanning a system that has no site in it at all, in which case your scanning is in vain, drop a multispectral first and run a scan on cosmic signature to see if a site is even in the system. I know you said you know what your doing but all these questions must be asked just in case your being boneheaded, which even us experienced people can do sometimes, me included -Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines. |

These probes do work to scan out ships, I have been doing it for months
Exploration probes arent made to probe down player ships, use normal probes for that, much more effective and much faster.
Probing works just fine btw. -----

Perhaps there is nothing in system to find.
Perhaps your quarry has a cloak activated. Perhaps they have ECCM fitted.

They may be mission runners. Try quest probes if snoops and fathoms fail. Bummer we can't see wrecks on scanner now though.

Nothings wrong. Probed a domi and a cyclone just yesterday.
Why to ppl reply when they have ABSOLUTELY no idea what you are talking about.
Exploration probes are the most accurate and easiest to get a hit on when probing for ships. Recons are just faster. But when probing a mission you want exploration probes for the signal strength its worth the increased time 1000 times.

Decided to give it a try after reading your post, they do not seem to be bugged. My single fathom picked up several ships in the nearby belts.
