The mercenary commanders seemed to have been changed to 85k caracels for me. And the odd thing is, last one i killed dropped tech 2 comps and a tech 2 skill pack. To bad the skills arent really worth anything _______________________________________________

I was happy to see that the Commander drops now loot. I also got some tech2 items AND a 250mm 'Scout' Railgun, which made my day ;-)

One dropped a nice Berserker heavy drone for me last night, sure made a change from the buckets of hammerheads the other mission rats drop.
I've had a few tech 2 components too.

Oh yeah, the tech II item I got was a Graviton Reator Unit which yields nice mega and zydrine. And I got also a beserker heavy drone, forgot too mention. Very sweet ;)

Yes at first i thought "oh dear" or word to the effect when i first realised that he'd changed from a 35k rat to an 85 as i'd gone to do it in a kestrel. Thing is he didn't seem any harder to do. And he dropped nicer loot and a tech 2 item. We want more nerfs like this. However some description on the bounties should be put in the briefing as it might save going on one ill equiped

Edited by: Captain Brownfinger on 24/03/2004 05:33:39 Still very doable in the kestrel. Just need to watch your distance cause he will MWD to you. Great new drops too :D

Finaly! So this is the source of the malicious "NPCs drop tech 2 now!"...
s'ok, only joking.
When you say tech-2 item people invariably think "tech 2 module" and opposed to a T2C (tech 2 component) or T2T (tech 2 tool). Caused a bit of a panic with people saying there were tech-2 modules being dropped (something ccp have said they will never do).

And as some of the named items are starting to drop, for example armor repairers, that might as well be the source for "NPCs drop tech 2 now!".

He normally drops ONE tech II component, and something like a heavy drone or a medium weapon. Not really anything that will screw up the component market. btw a heay drone and an RAM module is a bit irritating considering prive vs m3

NO - misinformation that is.
CCP stated catagorically that no tech-2 named mdoules would exist to be dropped from NPCs "ever". When queried on those specific named-nanos they stated it was a mistake that theyd roped "quite a while back" that has since been rectified.
If CCP start allowing any Tech-2 modules, named or standard, to drop from any NPCs they will be doing a massive U-turn on lengthy promises about not "buggering up" the player driven economy that tech-2 and beyond is supposed to salvage.

They're going to have to offer something for people to go into those 'dungeon' systems. If it's loot, it's going to have to be something to make it worthwhile to people. I'd be surprised if they stuck to this statement.
I don't see drops negativly affecting tech-2, assuming tech-2 drops were as rare or rarer than the good tech-1 items. The quantity would be too limited to matter much. -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

Just to reiterate. The merc commander drops tech II components, not tech II modules.
Same components you get in much higher quantities from your agents.

Oh, I see. It makes sense since the modules I've seen made me wonder why those particular items were out. And it's a quite typical CCP mistake.
But anyway, I can't see how rare drops of tech 2 meta modules would do the player driven market any harm. Unless the current pricing of tech 2 items drops seriously, the named modules would be so expensive that the economical impact mostly would be noticed by the buyer and seller, and not on the amount of regular items being traded.
