Edited by: Snaith on 17/01/2008 19:41:09 If you are in the UK and cannot get past the "checking status" message can you please reply here with ISP supplier you are with.
There is an ongoing problem with Tiscali and several ISP's belonging to them.(pipex, toucan, eclipse, nildram, bulldog etc)
Some people will know this problem well, and many have swapped ISPs.
This is not a slagging your ISP off thread, it's a guage of the problem , and a tool to continue the pressure on the ISP's to let Eve traffic get a priority status.
This is not port blocking nor fup issue, it's about traffic management , as described in Tiscali stickies, in known issues section of these forums .
Thanks.

NO im with VirginMedia a.k.a. NTLWorld. Getting checking status then status unknown. Everything wa fine and dandy before the 17:39 reboot. I don't think it is the ISP supplier.

Yep Tiscali (AKA Tiscraply) started blocking eve between about 7:30pm to 10:30pm for me at the start of this week, now that its happening i think i'm going to go with BE's unlimited package, its been a long time coming, while everyone else was complaining for the last 12 months, i've hadunrestricted eve access butnow i'm starting to get cut off and having it blocked.
But yeah, Anyone got any opinions on BE? reviews seem to be all good everywhere i've looked, but i dont want to start anything till i know the deal with them

I'm just interested as to why suddenly at the start of this week i got hit, did tiscali change something new at the start of this week or did they review the "to screw over list" and notice my sub wasnt on the list?

Ok since xmas we have seen a serious tightening of the screws, we can put down a lot of this to the use of the bbc and channel 4 players, vod catchup services going mainstream.
Which suddenly gives every person on the internet a legitimate tv download service.
It was announced as early as June that certain ISPs were not happy about it, and remember Tiscali have their own tv service , as does virgin who also throttled to death.
The grabbing of market share by slick advert skills, and making the service fit, also contibutes if I were to speculate.

I have had a similar problem. When it occurs, I have tried pinging, then doing a tracert on the Tranquility address, and find that my ISPs upstream provider just doesn't make the connections in the right directions to connect to Tranquility. The problem can sometimes last hours. Working at the ISP, I've checked and there seems to be very little that I or other users can do to resolve it.

I'm with Pipex, problem started on 16/1/08, no logins between 1700 and 2300. I have spoken to Pipex support, who are aware there is a problem and are looking into it with no ETA. Given that the Tiscali thread on this issue is 4 months old and now at 32 pages, I'm not holding my breath.
Whilst, understandably, CCP do not seem to think that this is their problem, I hope they are working with these ISP's to solve this issue, because as each ISP follows suite, there soon won't be any Eve players left in the UK...

For anyone suffering these issues, please contact Ofca in game. He has just talked me through setting up a secure ssh tunnel to his server and I can access Eve through this.
He is willing to set this up for other users for a small amount of isk each week, so drop him a line and hopefully this will get you through until you can change isp

I'm with Pipex. They've been throttling everything from about 4pm to midnight each day for the last week or so. This evening (Sunday) if I can login to Eve at all it's only for a couple of minutes.
Bye bye broadband Britain.

I am a PIPEX customer and having the exact problems with not being able to connect.
Just to make matters even worse, when I do finally connect I get disconnected
Needless to say their support is uneventfull and useless at most times. I am so regretting the upgrade I took in October last year, now I am tied down with a 12 month contract (approx 9 or so to go).
Ah well, one can only hope and pray that something will get done with regards to the traffic shaping currently imposed on the paying customer.
I will keep an eye on this thread and many thanks for fighting our cause Snaith.

Agreed!!! You ever need a wingman for a mission Snaith give me a shout!
It's not right at all! From what I can tell they've also been blocking STEAM as well. Not a happy happy at all. Worst thing is I had a skill due to finish today and now I've missed out on 12hours worth of training!

I use Plusnet and have no issues, also i think if the service provider has stopped providing you the service you signed up to you should be able to cancel it 12 month contract or not.
