What ship should one fly? I know the taranis is more for dps and the ares for speed. Which of these two are the most fun flying in your opinion?
Also if you got a setup for either ship, feel free to post it.

Edited by: TimMc on 17/01/2008 23:05:58 Taranis - Tiny damage and looks cool.
Ares - Unnoticable damage and really fast. More useful from long tackle.
Edit: I prefer Ares, as more speed = more fun. Going more than 12kms without any stupid expensive implants is great.

The taranis is an excellent anti-inty inty. Good for solo.

Edited by: Bashia Petrov on 18/01/2008 02:21:06 hmm, Guess that must have changed with Trinity...
Reading patch notes FTW ~!~ Linkage The Ares now has a new medium slot at the expense of a high slot. Also, launcher hard points have been reduced to one.
Guess time to switch back to Ares then ~!~
Sigh, if only CCP would update their Items Database powergrid output 30 low slots 4 med slots 2 high slots 4 cpu output 150 launcher hardpoints 2 turret hardpoints 2

You can get a Blasteranis to 300 DPS with 1 tech 2 rig and the rest tech 2 equipment. Or get 288 DPS and still fit a speed mod/suitcase II in the lows.
Atm that out DPS's my BC :P ---

T2 rigs aren't realistic. Faction ammo is, and T1 rigs are (I guess, still pricey for a veeery risky ship to fly) mostly OK.
Anyway, I don't know what BC you fly, but I don't see it out-DPSing anything short of a Prophecy using 180mm autocannons, and even then it's a bit tight match

Edited by: Ogron on 18/01/2008 15:30:24 I technically don't fly a BC as not only are my medium skills + BC skills low, i can't fit it with full tech 2 yet.
But yes, with a prophecy or a harbinger i think i still get under 300 dps. ---

Depends what you want to do with your interceptor. The taranis with its 50% bonus to hybrid turret damage can be useful to fight NPCs but an ares being smaller and faster (as well as having range bonuses for warp disruption devices) would be much better for tackling.
The ares does have warp disruption bonuses right? I can't remember....
