And what of everyone who put in the TIME and effort of skilling the things to V/IV? Should everyone just get the same skill speed as the guys who have put in about two extra MONTHS over the basic learnings to get them maxed?
Sorry if I sound like a grumpy old codger, but I fail to see why the guy who trained IV/III in his learnings should get the same skill times (and probably better, with decent starting attributes) as me, when I've put in 3 weeks on Clarity and Logic V, to help compensate for low starting perception. It used to require basic learnings at V to even start the advanced learning skills, now it's much easier, only requiring IV.
Sorry, this puts even more emphasis on starting attributes, and I don't like that either.
Also, free giveaways of SP are very much NOT Eve. You want it, skill for it like the rest of us did. There are builds that come fresh out of the box capable of training T2 guns, and they're even priced within reach these days. Eve is about the long haul. The basic Learnings are short skills in the grand scheme of things.
/me walks off waving a cane around and grumbling about 'uppity noobs' and '5k and an ibis' and something about 'uphill both ways, no warp to zero'
Actually, wouldn't mind ditching the basic learnings (Leave the advanced ones, though), compensate players by giving them the +5 to all attributes and the SP they put into the basics for other uses (or, alternatively, the training time it would take them with their current attributes to get those SP), and have the set diminish to Learning and the Advanced Learnings. But the Advanced Learnings stay. They are a reward for patience, and Eve demands patience.
+1 to that.
I'm a fairly new player (4 months old) but i put my time in to train my learning skills up. All the people before me did the same. It's real simple, if you want to train faster, train your learning skills. No one's forcing you to do it. Of course you will fall behind. Also no one said you had to do all of them at once. If your going to train up industry, science, electronics, do just the INT/MEM learning skills. When you feel like doing other stuff train up the other ones before hand, space them out a little.
