Due to a bad logistical decision on my part, there is a chance that dividends will be late this month for FIN and FIN-U. All assets are safe and it is not a capital loss but rather a logistics timing mistake on my part that has caused this.
I am doing my best to make sure that they are on time as they have always been but I may not succeed and may end up paying dividends a few days late.
Please note that I do not mean a few weeks late, so please don't take up more of my time by emailing me to ask questions as I would rather spend it sorting this out.
Sincerely,
Eefrit

Thanks for being patient everyone.
Dividends for FIN will be paid out within the next 24 hours, and hopefully for FIN-U as well, but that may be another day or two.
My apologies once again for the delay.

While I am not Eefrit, I feel that I have to ask. WHat do you mean you invested on Jan 3rd? I only ask this since Eefrit must have sold out on both of these bonds more than a year ago.
Since I am sure that Eefrit is most likely asleep at this time, let me ask the questions that he will most likely ask you when he reads your post. To save you both time trying to figure things out.
1. Who did you send isk too? 2. Why did you send that person isk? 3. What did you expect to get for that isk? 4. Exactly what time did you send that isk? 5. Who or what told you to send that isk to Eefrit?

Treelox people were still sending money to Eefrit's FIN thread as he didn't specifically/clearly list it as closed. You can see it being done here

Hi Morro,
My apologies for the long delay here. I normally only log EFS Manager in once a month to pay dividends, but I have a niggly idea in the back of my mind that you contacted me directly as well but I am not sure.
Either way the Isk has been refunded from EFS Manager.

Apologies if I have this wrong, but I do not seem to have received any FIN-U dividend yet and it is getting on for two weeks late.
I did receive the FIN dividend on the 7th, thanks

Speaking as an investor in both of these bond offerings, wouldn't it be appropriate to pay a higher than usual amount due to the payment being late?

Yes, if the interest is late then it too should accrue interest, not to mention a bit of a late penalty much as any company would charge a delinquent customer. The one time FRPB was late (by less than a day if memory serves) there was a little extra something in the dividend. My apologies to Ionia if it was a different bond....

I guess the question would be is what provisions did Eefrit make in his orginal business plan?
Does he or does he not have provisions in his business plan for extra instrest in the event of being late on his monthly bond repayments?
I ask that because without such a provision being in his plan, he can easily tell us to pound sand. The nature of bonds being what they are, by buying them we agreed to adhere to the plan as it was set forth.
Shares on the other hand, well then we have partial ownership, and have some recourse. --

Not quite, if he had a "things may be late but too bad" provision then we are indeed screwed but if he doesn't have any such provision then he owes interest on the unpaid capital. It is quite simple really, he borrowed money from the public and agreed to pay interest on that, he is late with a payment so now he owes them even more money. He has to pay interest on all owed money unless specifically stated otherwise, to do anything less is borderline scamming.
The only situation in which borrowing money for an agreed rate and then failing to pay the resulting interest is when an IPO accepts funds but is canceled do to insufficient investment and even then there are plenty of incidents of people paying interest for the few days they held the investors money.

Well we shall just see how eefrit deals with this then shall we not?
Myself I have shed all my investments in corps that are seemingly now run by people who barely play anymore, except for a token ammount of shares/bonds just so i can watch votes, dividends and still voice my opinion from an "ownership" position. --

Edited by: Kwint Sommer on 12/02/2008 14:47:22 Pretty much the same here, the only thing I hold more than a billion in stock in is less than 6 months old.
I did it for very different reasons though. I realized shares were selling at 130% of what I paid and I cashed out. Now I'm earning 30% a month on the ISK so it was one of the best decisions I've made in a while.

Sorry for the delay here. The dividends have been paid a few minutes ago.
To answer the other question raised, of course interest will be paid on the bonds for the period from the beginning of the month until now, but will be included in next months dividends.
