I've been messing around on Pyfa recently, checking out new ways to blingbling my Proteus fit. I recently came across the faction medium blasters, and the results left me flabbergasted! A rack of shadow serpentis medium blasters will set me back 420mil - and this gives me the benefit of a 21DPS loss compared to my tech 2 neutrons.
While I understand this discrepancy is due to the fact that Void M has the same effect on a ship hull as firing starving children at a pile of burgers, I really cannot see the point in paying 64mil more per blaster for a loss in DPS. While I understand that it gives people who cannot use tech 2 guns the ability to fire st00pid amounts of damage for money, realistically speaking who is going to fly a ship with 420mil in highslots into PVP, the realm of blasters?
This isn't a whine or nerf thread; I'm genuinely curious. You fit a Dread Guristas warp disruptor instead of the Tech 2 alternative because it's, well, much better. Why are the faction alternatives worse in the realm of the Gallente?
If we distribute pictures of people, does that mean God can file copyright claims under SOPA? |

On the other hand, tracking and range aren't even worth talking about if you're flying a medium blasterboat. A good pilot will be orbiting his enemy at 2,500m and will have scrambled and webbed them already so that tracking makes little difference.

Not necessarily - the virtues of Imperial Navy EANMs far exceed those of the regular T2 kind.
