you mean BoB leached all the useful members out of their pet alliances and then abandoned the useless husk of what remained when trouble came? how did we not realize this earlier!?
(p.s. someone tell DICE they were supposed to get the people who are good at eve. lol paracidic)
Just tell us what you really mean! You want the remaining "useless husks" to join Goons don't ya?? We would fit right in yeah?

Look, I'm sorry. I was overly harsh. You aren't useless.

Sorry young gentleman, but that was very much the point. You were given a job outside of your means and ability. It would not be the first time that such a thing has happen, but this time it was you. I personally would be humbled by such a black moment in my life, but that is me. I am sure of my abilities and my weaknesses.
Everything that you mentioned in your text based finger pointing was mentioned in detail and I agree with in total. Corps lost their unity under the last administrative watch. Self interest abound. No one if forgiving IT for it's role. IT also knows of it's problems and they are working to correct it. KDM is now holding the line and most likely will be paramount in the reemergence of FIX as an alliance, as will Swedish Aerospace and Band of Builders.
With the arrogance that you display in your post, perhaps it is best that you left FIX. Denial would be of little use.
BIRDofPREY
I fail to see where the arrogance was, everything I mentioned was based on facts, not perception. Leaving FIX is also irrelevant to this discussion as the decision had nothing to do with matters at alliance leadership level but more corporate level.
I also fail to see where you got the "but that was very much the point. You were given a job outside of your means and ability." from, quoting my exams as the issue. I've had exams for the last week, not the last 2 months.
Anyway Bird, I don't believe you're in the position to critisise many people in FIX after your attitude IN FIX for god knows how long. All you did was complain and complain and in the end aid in causing a major internal incident. Everyone has made mistakes, whether you would deem your actions a mistake I really don't know. Some of mine, I consider mistakes. In none of this am I trying to say I was perfect for the position I was given, I'm defending myself against accusations that I know to be untrue. What I take from my time in FIX at any level is that I now know that democracies simply don't work :P My comment about Droewa's reversal of board decisions? Yes it ****ed me off at the time but in the bigger picture it's exactly what FIX needed. For that I respect Droewa despite the bustups we had from time to time. Yes, he was absent for a large part of the last 2 months, as was Hani and that was part of the problem.
Basically Bird, with some points I do agree with you, but you've blown some things out of proportion and others are simply untrue. If I displayed any arrogance, it was not intentional, I was basing what I said off factual information and indeed trying to defend myself.
I'm not going to reply to you any more on this but if you want to get a reply to me then please evemail it to me. I don't think this thread is doing FIX's current leadership any favours.

FIX has a current leadership?
I wonder how that works... was there a democratic election process? (...insert lots of LAFFO here..) .. or was it a case of those that didn't jump ship got stuck with the ugly girl?
Anybody who steps up to *lead* FIX now has to seriously be as thick as two planks.
The only thing that makes sense for FIX is a permanent R.I.P... let the old girl rest and beome part of history.

pfff, you made a comeback too after a longer period of inactivity, why can't FIX do the same in a few months.

I find it hilarious that you still call it backstabbing.
BoB were using FIX and MC as roadblocks - making them do the fighting for them while BoB reinforced Delve as much as possible not caring about their 'allies'. MC made the logical choice of showing BoB the finger.

The real travesty here is BoB does this to FIX but you guys only get to do it to KOS. Christ, good luck getting useful members out of them!

Its an interesting analysis. I'm not sure I agree with it all in terms of generalities (You *DONT* increase tax during war, as it decreases the players income pools for new ships), but I'd probably note that what makes an alliance unkillable is its culture and its structure
If you make the culture of a group such that the people in it care for it, they'll stand up and fight to the last. Goons and BOB are classic examples here.
And you need to make a structure that can adapt fast to a changing battlefield. When defending against maneuver warfare , the enemy is always trying to clusterfsck you into being unable to react logically to the scenario in real time.. But the parts have to be expendable and redundant. Leader flips out and runs off to draw pictures in crayons? 2IC moves into place and takes over. POS logistics guy decides that making happy with wife is more fun than refilling pose? No probs, someone moves in. Finally you need a scenario where EVERYONE is in some way connected with the economy. Don't plan it, encourage people to participate and the free market will do its thing. As a bonus, you get all sorts of magical defenses against market manipulation (Guy relists high, producer gets paid more and undercuts low. everyone except hostile wins). And everyone ought be involved with PVP. Free markets are also less prone to 'black operation' recon gangs. The market just adapts.

Edited by: Laboratus on 27/01/2008 19:10:39 It is the purpose of leadership to provide a vision, unity and strategy. From the sound of things quite a few stepped down to managerial roles.

I think people should stop pointing the finger of blame for fix losing its space. Given the shear numbers against us it was only a matter of time. Sure more organized leadership could have made a better defense and held out for maybe another week or two? Maybe not given the attack was over xmas when our numbers were low. Hell I was on a beach in Thailand on holiday, a lot of other guys were on holiday too.
A lot has left fix but there is still some real quality there, enough to make a comeback from.

I was hanging out in querious during the last push, and by the beginning of December you could tell it was pretty much over. At first, FIX would respond to our gangs, push us out, lay some good traps (real ones too, not log on ones) and get some kills.
By December, I would log on, not really check intel, jump into 3-f without really worrying about it, fly to i1y solo, jump in to see 20-30 reds, and only me as blue, and I would fly around searching to ratters, camp the station solo, blatantly attack anything that undocked, pretty much without worry, in my non-nano-sac.
Made me sad tbh. I remember fighting FIX back when I was in Huzzah. Always good fights, always brought it. Those were my best memories in EVE. Then huzzah epic failed, everything became political, and my favorite foe became a shattered empty husk of what it once was.
Good luck to all in FIX, may you rise up from the ashes to live on. Tradition holds that Syndicate must be your first stop.
