I figure there are plenty of military or ex-military players in EVE, but Ive only met a handful of people who've served in both the RN and the Army, let alone RN and Infantry.
I'm not sure how well RL mil experience translates to EVE as a MMOG. There's a bit of a difference in making a game (i.e fun) and a military career. Some concepts are probably applicable - the principles of war, C3/4, ISTAR etc etc but as with most things in EVE the RL analogies will always fall apart at some stage.
Nice to know there's somebody else in EVE I can use terms like "G3/4" with without them looking at me funney

Patterns of behavior and the analysis of it would benefit the Devs a lot.
I'm amazed we don't have a group of psychology/sociology majors using this game as a test lab already. Problem is getting good data and not just many anecdotes. But seriously, the ability to test what happens when the powers that be say 'nothing (except exploits and ISK buying) is forbidden, everything is allowed' and mean that LITERALLY, you'd think sociologists would be beating on our doors.
I know of 2 dissertations (or part of dissertations) written by sociologist about EVE... there are bound to be more...

I would love to see the opinions of a military stratiegist on the current "great eve war" as well as how close EvE's military situations mirror the real worlds. By that I mean is how alliances going about waging war (the giant space ships aside) comparable to actual tactics used by their RL counterparts.
