I actually got the girlfriend to agree to our attendance at the 2008 Fanfest (assuming that there will be one).
I need to know a few things, either from CCP staff or previous attendees:
1) A general idea of what the flight/hotel package cost last time to give us an idea of the future cost. 2) The actual Fanfest ticket cost. 3) Cost of other things like food, non-Eve related stuff, etc.
I really want to do this thing, so any and all information will be sincerely appreciated. We have to start saving now, being poor people and all that. We'd be flying out of Boston, USA. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, thanks. I saw a bunch of the stuff like the Sisters of Eve thing and the FAQ. What I need is some numbers to crunch.

going to be about 2000 u.s for 4 days 3 nights plus flight exchange rate is about 1 dollar for 64 isk (icelandic kind not eve kind) aka kr=na.
It's about 1200 - 2000 kr=na per person for a nice meal all in all its going to be about 2000 - 3000 dollars for the both of you for 4 days.

I was there from the early morning thursday until the afternoon on the following monday. All costs included the price was around 1500-1600 USD. You can save money by staying at Hotel Cabin, which is close to the Fanfest venue (unless they change it to a new location in '08) and one block from scenic Saebraut. If you walk everywhere you save plenty of isk as well. If you register early you save yourself a hundred USD on airfare too.
edit: I was flying out of Orlando, so if you're departing from certain other places the airfare could be dramatically different of course.

This is helping a lot, we're figuring $5000 US for the trip total. Of course we'll have plastic. This would be our big vacation for 2008 so we could go for another $1000 US (credit cards) if pressed. Thanks all.

Don't forget traveler's checks too. Plastic was described as being "widely accepted" there, but that wasn't enough of an assurance to me personally to stake my financial readiness on. You can redeem the checks for cash at the bank in Kringlan mall during the weekdays+saturday, and at some places in downtown Reykjavik during the weekdays.

It's also worth checking out icelandexpress since they're cheaper than icelandair, who all the packages are with.
For 2007, booking only 4 days before fanfest still got me there for the same price as the original package deal, albiet in a *cough* not so cool hotel.
