Quote: Regarding SPVD and Zombie. We are good friends with them. I would lend *any* of them my battleship. What they did in Yulai took a load of balls. I was impressed. They invited me over especially to film it. (video 4b in sig)
Crazy vikings they may be, but they are all good people.
Everyone that got caught up in that system had all their stuff returned, on top of the (at least 40%) insurnace they had on their ships.
Net result: zombie disappeared for a week, everyone they killed got free money.
Results after the fact do not mitigate what Zombie did. Zombie didn't know that CCP would reimburse as they did.
Did it take planning? No doubt...lots of it I expect.
Was it ballsey? You betcha.
Was it spectacular? Yep...worthy of a prominent place in the EVE History Books.
Was it lousy that they did it? Definitley. Over and over pirates tell Carebears that if they can't stand getting killed then stay out of low sec space and cower by Papa CONCORD. Then Zombie comes along and wastes over a 100 (200?) people in what is arguably supposed to be the safest system in all of EVE. Greifing indiscriminately in what is supposed to be a haven is not good for EVE as a whole.
I think it is this behavior the person you were quoting is on about. Zombie's raid took a lot of balls and planning but in the end was nothing more than a spectacular version of most gate ganks. Killing just to kill. No regard for money, no regard for roleplay, no regard for the overall effect it has on EVE. Just shoot at whatever you can get your crosshairs on.
There is definitely a necessity for PvP and pirates in EVE and admittedly striking the balance between pirates and Carebears remains a difficult one to achieve. Hopefully it'll all get sorted eventually.

Yeah I know the name, just didn't feel like being the town criar going around telling all peoples alts I know on the boards just because.
XenTech still refuse to believe you stole that ore too, don't want to ruin their fond memories.

Edited by: drunkenmaster on 25/03/2004 01:12:15 Also, I'd kill you for your corpse, so that when I'm writing replies to you, I can open my hangar and look at you while I type
The same could be said for Whitedwarf, I guess. Only I'm guessing he sold his account to someone with a bit more tact, as I haven't seen him post for a while.
Forum-based disagreement is a perfect reason to kill someone. Look at Jericho, most of their enemies come from forum posts.
Edit: I left Xentech shortly after that incident, to join SPVD. Being one of the founders, I didn't want to harm their good name. .

Most of mine come from us not recognizing regional alliances and me pricing my goods what I feel like and not what's said on the Trade Channel.
I expect no quarter from pirates.
