Brego Tralowski Gallente Empire Excavations Inc	Posted - 2008.01.22 07:02:00 - [1] Hi all, I run a Haulsge Co and am almost ready to put together a freighter. I'd like to have an Obelisk and wondered if anyone out there had one already. What do you think of them and what set-up do you recommend? I want to use it for large scale haulage so any help would be great. Deep space mining, Mmmm.

It all depends. Freighter suicide ganks do happen, but they are still rare enough that your chances of surviving a trip are still pretty darn good. Your best bet is ALWAYS fly manually. No doubts about it. However, if someone is determined to gank your freighter then they will probably be able to do it anyway. Catch you on one side of the gate after decloaking and before warping/aligned and they will still be able to kill you. Eclip SUBLIME L.L.C.	Posted - 2008.01.24 03:01:00 - [12] Obelisks are the 2nd biggest freighters in terms of capacity. Prepare urself for slow travel. These ships have massive align and warp times so training ur evasive manuvering skills i think it is, plus advanced spaceship command up to atleast 4 is needed to not die of boredom while u get into warp. Watch urself around stations with close undock points to the station as u can get stuck on the station. Some caldari stations are bad but amarr stations that dump you out the bottom are much easier. they turn slow and warp slow 0.3au a sec so a 30au jump takes like 2 minutes but hauling 900km3 at freighter 3 is handy. Undocking from jita is a nightmare and try to avoid it if u can unless its the lowtime where there is only like 400ppl in system. dont take it int low sec unless u got a squad of ppl protecting you as they mite have alot of hull but they go down really fast to a BS -------------------------------------------------- It is not what u are underneath, but what you do that defines you

It costs quite a bit, and takes some doing to gank a freighter in high-sec, but if it succeeds, can pay off well. Now, as the hauler, your job is to survive any gank attempt. Scout ahead for possible problems like a few battleships and such running sensor boosters while waiting at the gate. Escort your high-value loads. Don't bother with trying to kill the attackers, but rather keep the freighter repaired while waiting for CONCORD to take care of the attackers. Oh, and if you AFK/autopilot along, you're giving any gank-squad a big wide window of opportunity to do with you as they will. I been flying the Amarr one, Providence on my alt in empire for the last 6 or 7 months, allways on autopilot, never had any probs whatsoevah. just once when i had some really big isk load was i targetted by a few BS's nearing a gate, but they couldent touch me, it requires (my guess) 30+ BS's to kill a freighter in empire, and all 30 BS's will be pwned by concord, even is they do succes in killing me, so untill i stuff my cargo with highend snakes worth 900bills, i cant possibly imagine anybody want to waste an entire BS fleet to kill a freighter. Unless paid to offcourse, hence my alt is da big sekrit, riiiight .:.
