The economy....I have a handful of issues I think could be addressed, but I don't thikn any devs will get around to it. At the moment, the players making the most money are those I assume to be mining the rarest ores in 0.0 space. I understand there is much higher risk there, so it's fairly balanced, but for anyone not in an alliance or corp that already has a foothold in a 0.0 system, there is probably no way for any other players to be able to mine these ores themselves, for risk of losing a ship and waking up in a clone tank. That's one thing. As for items....we have standard items, named versions of standard items and Tech II items. For standard items....there are *many* standard items which can be bought or found, but not have blueprints available for them. Once upon a time agents gave out xyz blueprint to some players over time, now they are no longer available anywhere. Harvestor Drones, Shield Boost Amplifiers, other mining drones, etc should *all* have blueprints available on the market. They are standard items, and everything that is just a standard item should be available for all players to build. That is why the value of named items is what it is...better than the standard fare, but able to be used with the same skills. As for Tech II, making that how it is, I think is currently fair enough. They're the best items, requiring higher skills to use, for more benefit at a greater cost (though players are charging some silly prices for somethings, but that can't be changed).
At the moment, the rich get richer, and shiva with mobile refineries will mean they get even richer still. So far, almost every change has benefitted the oldest players and the richest players, with very little for everyone else. The Tech II lottery for example, with it's requiring 2 lvl 5 skills to enter is not available to players who have yet to train to fly a cruiser, etc. I'm not saying it should be easy to fall into, but as it is for the moment, it is very hard for any players that aren't long-time players and filthy rich already, with everything already at lvl 5, to get much opportunity to come close to being able to acheive what the biggest/oldest corps can.
Though it isn't directly related to economy, I posted a couple of suggestions for the market and escrow systems here.
So in short my suggestions are: - Have all standard items available to buy & sell on market, as well as blueprints for all of them, not just some of them. This doesn't mean npc corps have to buy/sell all of them (eg homeless, sci grads, etc), just that players can buy/sell everything and blueprints for them.
- Allow players other than those with 10mill+ skill points some opportunities, instead of just adding new features and changing things to allow the already rich to become richer.
