I flew around in a Vexor for a long time just because I love the way it looks. Kind of like a giant hairdryer, but still . . .
Nowadays I seem to spend most of my time in an Iteron V, which is just a big tube. Oh, well.

If anyone has looked at the original artwork for the ships (in screens and art) we are quite lucky that the ships even resemble space vessels at all.
Some of the drawings look like giant insects on acid, or maybe thats the artists drug of choice.
I think on the looks front, minmatar got the fuzzy end of the lollipop - apart from the rifter and the rupture.
The megathron looks like the batmobile with attitude - a posers ship however - definitely form over function

I wish that the Amar ships had the dark skin that the serpentis have. Then they would be the coolest ships in Eve hands-down.

You know to me the Moa kinda looks like a snake, almost like a cobra ready to strike that is until the neck reaches the body. The Condor also seems very snake like. The Caracal even though its my favorite to fly I hate the big square jack-o-lantern toothy smile.
My favorite ship because its one of a kind is the Tristan, looks "robotech" with the armor plates and all its very un-Eve like.
Thorax is to much of an airplane for me you can even see the "turbine blades" yuk.
And the Minmatar their ships are the best fit to the backstory.
Amarr, I like the color of their ships especialy the Apoc it looks and gives the feeling of being majestic, regal and powerful. |

1. Caldari look like fractal graphs gone wrong.
2. Gallente ships look like something shaped by water.
3. The Amarr are designed to please the more conservative players. (We are naturally inclined to like completely symmetrical things.)
4. The Minmatar... Well, they're made out of cardboard and duck tape. The Rifter does look like a pod racer though.
Apocalypse looks like a gigantic space-comb.
Megathron looks like the SDF-1.
The Armageddon is even more phallic than the Thorax.
The Vexor unfortunately looks like a shoe turned on its side.
The Dominx could either be a fist, or dog poo. Take your pick.
The Arbitrator looks like a nut*****er.
The Amarr shuttle looks like the A-Wing.
The Aguror looks almost Art Deco in its design though.
The Scythe looks like Cartman being lead around by his satellite dish.

Amarr noob frigate:Flying prawn. Kind of cheeky.
Punisher:Very sleek with a subtle hint of menace.
Bestower:It's an industrial and is the shape it needs to be. Butt ugly but functional.
Omen:Purposeful and hints at danger if provoked.
Amarr shuttle:Gorgeous. It might not have any weapons but it looks like it should.

Since we're talking about ship design I will first link to my pic in case anyone missed it
Secondly, I have to say that I can appreciate how the Caldari ships look like something borne out of a stark corporate design, even if it seems a bit fugly. Personally I like the Tristan, Vexor, and Armageddon myself. Oh yeah, the gallente shuttle is cool too, looks like a fighter rather than a shuttle though. Then there is the Amarr shuttle, can you say *cough* A-Wing *cough*!

I think the dev's on a whole did an amazing job with the art in this game(ships fit their backgrounds, even if those backgrounds have no influence on the game :/), remember not all ship needs to look pretty, and its nice to see real diversification in peoples tastes and dislikes on the subject.
I think the scorpion from the front looks too simple for a battleship, but thats just me(i still love the ship).
If I were in charge of the art though, Id have put more customisations, based on skills(higher mechanic = beefier ship, hull upgrades = more armor plates, certain level in shield operations = a constant but slight glow in shields etc) and also modules(not necessarily like options avail to the player for direct control).

I like minnie ships, I especially like how I don't need to equip a hull repairer.
*Boys it looks like we took some hull damage, you better slap in some big red and start chewing*
I have actually been known to buy frigates purely on looks (I own a heron, and fly it  ) and I favor gallante frigates, but I might be tempted to train Amarr frigate to lvl 5 to get one of those cool looking malewhatchamightcallit
