Steam is not required to play EVE. EVE is being made available to the Steam network, and the special 21-day trial will likely be Steam users only.
NOTHING HAS CHANGED FOR EXISTING USERS

I was not aware of this as the only games I have on Steam are those that were inherited from WON. When I intend to purchase a game available on Steam, even a dated title, I buy a hard copy, even if I have to mail-order it. Why? Same reason people like physical books, I guess. I like getting the box art, the manual I can hold in my hands, a CD case I can put on my bookshelf, but I digress, my point was that I remember playing some halflife spin off (Blue Shift?) after Steam was introduced; to play a level, it first had to create a local server to host the game so that I could play it all on my lonesome or something like that, I aint no computator expert.

There is nothing wrong in steam..
Steam is just great way to get more players.
More ppl to grief
Move away from jita,motsu,another mission systems and trade hubs then you wont get laglag so much. :)
