Seems pretty evident that BoB were never going to take the news that MC no longer wished to be permanently and intrinsically entwined with BoB well.

Throwing this out as simply an idea, why couldn't MC and friends simply come to us with a request?
Payment for services rendered?
It wasn't the first time they did such; as they were obviously given constellations in the first place, and it isn't like we need more space.
Anyone can see this was handled poorly, the tail wagged the dog on this issue.
Just saying.

Tortuga wishes to secure Period Basis. The majority of attack comes from BoB who're hurt by the MCs decision to stand independent. Why shoot the people who also shoot BoB when it'd make the process of securing Period Basis faster by setting blue those people who're fighting the same common enemy?
It doesn't really need an incredible strategic mind to see why.
Could be worse, Seleene could be posting for two years about how they haven't set them to blue and would willingly fight RSF so long as there is sufficient ISK supplied and it comes with a plan
Thunk
I hate to burst your bubble, but the GBC hasn't "attacked" MC in period basis at all. All the fighting has involved MC attacks on the remaining BoB systems. The only exception i can think of was the comedy "lets kill a cyno jammer with assault frigs" op on boxing day. So i can't really see how this is a defensive move at all.

Eddz, it was easy for all to misunderstand your post.
I can understand your being on board for the Tortuga idea, I think any reasonable person could.
But don't you think you could have done a better job of it?
Let's put the topic back on track.
Your probably the most respected person in BoB at this moment in time Dafuzz, props to you for showing us that there is the ability to have a good discussion without deteriorating into mass hysteria and baiting.

Bob complains are so pathetically childish!
They had MC on their side and then was natural they would keep BOB blue even out of contracts. Now its omg a "new low" to do same to other side.
Really pathetic. BoB despair is reaching a new high.

There was no good way to handle it, the explosion of BoB posts after MC went their own way made it pretty clear that BoB were never going to accept it under any circumstances - BoB felt that they had a deal and that MC remains blue for life. Even this thread and the one yesterday that seems to have disappeared into the ether highlight this several weeks after the event. Obviously if MC is to be a real mercenary force they can't really come to an amicable agreement with BoB and stay true to the deal where BoB remains blue for life. Judging by some of the comments and the way a lot of this was taken I don't think it's reasonable to suppose BoB would ever have liked it in any form. You maybe right in that there may have been a better way to do it, but I don't believe BoB would have dished out territory for services that have been rendered in the past. I'm fairly certain that no matter how it was phrased would have ended up ultimately with a thread similar to the one we're posting in now.
Doddy: As I said, BoB made their feelings on the matter pretty clear and pretty public. There was no point MC sitting and waiting to see what would happen.
Thunk.

All I can see here is BoB frothing at the mouth. Its like watching a group of schoolboys throwing taunts at anyone that isn't in their little group. It would be funny, if it wasn't so damned tragic.

Let's put the topic back on track.
From KIA pov, it was handled fine. Early strike made, many systems secured, only left 1 stumbling block. All with little risk to asset.
The political landscape is shaped by the decisions of those at the pressure points. Temporary agreements and the like are of course extremely likely should hands be forced as they have been recently.
Stategically it was simply the only move that made sense.
Its time we all just got on with it and see where we are 2 months down the road, no amount of Propoganda or forums sht talk is gonna effect this one, the parties involved are far too well versed in using propoganda to be effected by such amatuerist attempts as some of the threads here.
Only time will see this one out, nothing more and nothing less.

Naturally it makes sense for you and your crew, you didn't have the long term issues bogging you down. Both strategically and politically. I don't perceive KIA or Outbreak being the bad guys here, you are attempting to secure your future, kudos to you.
I think the Tortuga idea isn't a bad one. I submit that it should have been handled by the MC, who already had what was presumed to be a strong relationship in place with BoB, to negotiate in a fair and equitable manner. Without rehashing the BS of the past, it is also fair for BoB to believe that they were stabbed in the back, when a simple diplomatic solution to such an idea could potentially have been reached.
Notice I said potentially, however unlikely, due to dissension from within the MC.

Strategically prudent move on MC's part. They couldn't ***** the BoB nut in Delve anymore than the Coalition could, so rather than risk a possible rear guard action by RSF pilots that might want to settle old scores from before their break from BoB, they temp-NAP them and study their options.
My own observations:
1. BoB isn't going anywhere. While the "They didn't want that space, anyway" statements might be ludicrous, they've actually done a far smarter thing than the Coalition gives them credit for by backing into Delve. With the ability to concentrate forces into threatened systems quickly, they can force an indefinite stalemate anywhere the Coalition threatens to make headway by simply jumping in an overwhelming number of ships and slaying the node. Cheap, but lets face it, it works. For them, its a win-win situation. Unlimited PvP at all hours of the day, with the ability to shut down any system that actually becomes threatened with a takeover.
2. Tortuga/Superfriends/whatever are neutral only in the sense that neither BoB nor the Coalition would trust them as far as they can throw them. This doesn't end their games as mercs, since there are still a LOT of alliances that aren't in snugglefest NAPs that can use them from time to time, but they are, in a real sense, a powerblock unto themselves. For Outbreak and any other typically homeless corps/alliances that align with them, hey, they may not like the POS game, but it is nice to have a place to call home between roaming ops when you have friends who don't mind playing system lord.
3. RSF. My opinions here are a bit prejudiced, given recent events, but with Red Alliance not so involved in the conflict anymore, they seem to be more interested in consolidating holdings up north. Guess they see the writing on the wall with Delve, already. The Goons seem content with just making BoB's life miserable for the time being, though I'm pretty sure they'll throw something at MC before too long. That depends entirely on how long it takes before the stalemate in Delve really gets on their nerves. TCF I don't know enough to venture an opinion, so I'll leave that alone.
