Is it just me or did they kill yet another ship? Wasn't this thing able to shoot missiles and had more low slots?

please call up the info screen on it again and reread the whole thing carefully.
1) The Sansha faction ships now shield-tank, its load of mids should tell you that
2) less lows, because they're not used on the tank anymore.
3) It gets a 100% damage bonus to its 4 turrets, turning it into a tech 1 Marauder.
4) Number of highs reduced to not make it overpowered due to #3

Been looking into this myself, playing with some fittings on eft and it looks to me like this boat has been turned into a killing machine. The 100% bonus to damage more or less turns its 4 turrets into 8, then you get 5 lows and 7 mids! Thats some nerf!

yea i gotta admit i don't like the new nightmare either.... but then i don't have any shield tanking skills and don't REALLY want to train them all that much but it's a very tempting idea

all my gunnery skills level 5
shield skills.... yea i don't have those
yea if i bothered to train up shield tanking skills it'd be a really cool ship to fly
but think of it this way
it's a shield tanking laser boat drop your tank and fit in a load of ecm and ecm boosty things and a couple of damage mods and you've got a beast of a ship even if it is a little fragile you shouldn't have any trouble running all the ecm with the lasers goin full pelt or you can stick a beefy tank on it and bend other ships over your knee and give them a good spanking.... tis up to you really

Yep. The Nightmare is basically a Marauder, with the firepower of an Abaddon but none of the Cap and CPU issues, and very little in the way of Grid issues.
And yes, 3 heatsinks won't compromise its tank.
Oh, and unlike the Marauders the Nightmare has BS level sensors, so ECM won't make it useless.
Overall, as long as you have some support for tackling the Post-Trinity Nightmare is one of the most powerful battleships out there, rivaling the Machariel for sheer "drool"-factor. Even with the need to fit tackling/Booster/Propulsion gear it can still (go Shield rig slots and their very insignificant drawbacks) field an awesome tank.

PvE:
It is really that good, even the Gurista jam-fests are done faster than in a navy fitted Raven.
Using Navy Tachyons the output is so great that most missions are done on passive recharge alone .. hihihi
PvP:
Shame about the price tag on these things, would be huge fun to use in pvp .. more midslots than God and more damage than Norris, it's like Christmas every time you un-dock.
