i was just ratting in 0.1 areas an yeah basically i go to the gate and it has a sentry turret there. . .
about 10 seconds afterwards i get a message saying "- - - - has tried to warpscramble you"
his name flashes red and i warp away. . . .
would i have been able to blow him away without worrying about the sntry gun attacking me?

think in .4 or lower you can attack and be attacked without concord interferring. You lose security standings if ya get a kill but thats about it.
in 0.0 dont even have to worry about security

Sentry guns would actually have helped you. Though, tbh, a ratting ship isn't going to beat many PvP ships even with gate guns on your side.

you could have, and the sentries would have helped you since he aggroed. now the fact that you warped away tells me you had stabs fitted. on top of this he was trying to kill you knowing the sentries would shoot him. odds are he knows what he's doing. basicly you would have died
