The Medical facilities on Sakulda station were virtually none existent, but the Clan elders had made the best of the situation to make their patient as comfortable as she could be. They bowed respectfully as Ashe swiftly made his concerned way to the private quarters set aside for the patient, his eyes awashed with grief, but with strong Brutor pride struggling to hold back the tears he so needed to shed right now. Neris was patrolling in CFS space right now, it would take a day before she could make it across the blockades to be here, a day too late perhaps. His anger what he saw as CA's greed was heightened by the current situation. and Ashka? She was afraid, not so surprising as she was the one who bought in the patient back to Sakulda. Ashe bowed gracefully to the high elder, Raukin. She placed her wizened hand gently on his head, but she could not offer a hint or a smile to put him at ease. To do so would have insulted him, as Leader he demanded the absolute truth from the Clan, only now he was beginning to regret it.
"Where did they find her?" He finally choked.
"The rail road," the shrill voice replied, "Two of them died to bring her this far, it was a dangerous journey, but no more dangerous than the condition she is in now, my child. She will have much need of your strength my son, she is not who she once was."
Ashe tried to peer past the veil that divided him from a reunion he now feared more than he ever dreamed.
"Will she remember me?" He finally got the courage to ask.
"They tampered with her mind, but not her heart," She offered a glimmer of hope in those words "She remembers you, Ashe Raven, my child. It was the only name she muttered time and time again, that is a light for you at least. Matar's blessing is still upon her."
He could hold back the inevitable no longer. This went beyond pride, beyond fear. Something else helped him come over those traits. His love for the woman behind those veils, he had to see her, even one brief moment with her would seem an eternity. The sadness would be unbearable he knew that all to well, butthe love wouldsee him through it.
"Miisha Neris...." he whispered "my wife...."
Lost to him for 7 whole years, missing after an angel raid on her convoy. Scouring all of EVE to find her, only to be butchured for the Khanid kingdom's slave experiments. It was little wonder they chose her as a subject, her strong will was on that needed to be broken, and the weak willed proved to easy a subject to break to provide any certain results. The Damn Amarrian's, how he would make them burn for this... how he would....
"No.." he thought "I must temper reason against rage.... Anger against hate...."
He felt the familiar hand of the elder on his shoulder once more, it strangely put him at some ease.
"Remember," she said, "Your time with her will be short, savour it as well you both can. But there is no loss of honour in tears my son, she will appreciate that you are still human, and in so she will retain what is left of her own."
He could not smile as the veil opened in front of him, seven years could not prepare him well enough for the pain that would follow. But for a brief moment, at long last, Miisha and Ashe were one once more.
And then, she would pass into Matar's keep and blessing, a smile on her face, her beautiful face..... ---------------------------------
