While group combat is my favorite thing to do, no matter how active a corp is there will be times when there aren't people on to pvp with. I hate logging on and hoping somebody is gonna be able to do something with me(flying Caldari support ships atm).
So I would like to cross-train to another race that has good solo potential(after I've gotten a few ships from Caldari). I've done quite a bit of research on the subject and used eve-search a few times. It seems Gallente and Minmatar are the best overall as a race. The other two have a few select ships but not too many it seems.
Not sure if I'll be in low-sec or 0.0 so I'm just going to consider them both before making a decision.
So if you were to start training a race and it's associated skills for JUST solo pvp which would it be?

As caldari you should already have decent missile and shield skills so i suggest minmatar, especially their speed tanks.
Start by using a rifter solo and work your way into a stabber, then into t2 minmatar cruisers/bcs...But never fly this race alone without t2 turrets and barrage as t1 just dont do enough dps to kill much. This is what happens when a kestrel with thermal missiles declares war on earth |

You can save yourself a lot of crosstraining simply by getting Minmatar Cruisers V and speccing to a Huginn/Rapier.

Yes but getting into boats like that usually warrents using lesser ships that use the same philosophies, the guy would save alot of lost isk if he learned how to fly lesser versions of speed tanks before jumping into the holy grail of such. I'd say go Minmatar:
1) Start with the Rifter (frigate).
2) Then graduate to the Stabber or Rupture (cruisers).
3) Then graduate to the Hurricane (battle cruiser).
4) Then get a Vagabond (HAS)!

Minmatar or gallente.
Probably minmatar. edging out ahead, whilst nanos are 'in'. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

yeah mini's cruise missles (wannabeships) are awesome nano wrecks so they are good for solo.
Also Sleipnir is good ship to fly

Amarr, because when you lose, you have a ready made excuse ("Amarr are nerfed", "CCP hates Amarr") that doesn't involve stupidity.

The best solo pvp race is the one that will reflect your own playstyle the best. How you will come to know which is the best for you is gained through experience and experimentation over time. What works wonders for some is a disaster for others.
