Edited by: Gazghkull on 27/01/2008 20:08:42 Speed tanked ships provide a way of harassing a camp while manpower is limited campers have HICs now too so wheres the problem its not like the vaga pilot is going about risk free there expensive ships and many things can happen bouncing of the gate being one of them. i dont think campers should get it all there own way.

Cause it is not funny when a Minmatar Recon level 5 character with 1200mm scan resolution insta locks a Vagabond, but still can't hold him down as the Vagabond mwd back to the gate and jumps through.
And how did I read it wrong???
Guess I was right you tick a,b,c and d.

Outside of low sec, most campers use nano ships for the exact same reasons. Hic's don't have a prayer of catching a speed tanked ship unless it lags out.
Price checked a rapier/huginn versus a vagabond recently? The vagabond is surpisingly cheap. If you have the skills, its cheaper to fly the vagabond. For example the rapier pimped out needs cov ops cloak, the same mwd, t2 lows, guns, just different mids. Same rigs. A faction webber on rapier runs the price up. Snake set on both is recommended.
If you want to annoy, bring a rapier/huginn. If you want to kill, fly the vagabond.
Originally by: castraitory vaga is a support ship but doesnt mean the huginn should be able to kill it in any situation.
The complaint wasn't killing it. Gotta catch one first. The complaint is that the rapier/huginn are _the_ anti-nano ship but they can't hold them down at gates. Its like catching a shark on 10lb test fishing line. Even in open space the rapier/huginn must be nano'd to keep up with the prey.
Go fast enough and its the same as having infinite warp core stabs in the lows. Bumping, lag, and pilot screw up is the most likely cause for ship loss.

Instead of boosting webs, and thereby overpowering them in all other situations than the one in which they are borked right now, why not disallow microwarpdrives from functioning in warp-disrupt bubbles?
I'm asking 'cause I'm fairly new, and the only real issue I have with Nanos is that no matter how many locks and webs you get on them, they just drift back to gates way too fast.
Outside of bubbles, their counter Huginns, are fine I think. Just not when we're talking distances of a few KM.
All I would want is that if Nanos stick around long enough for you to set up a camp with Huginns, you should at least have a 50/50 to catch them if they don't scout and jump through to you.
I also don't have a problem with ships being able to escape a camp, we need such ships as well, but those shouldn't have the DPS of Ishtars etc.

The problem with dissallowing MWDs in bubbles is that it would make bubbles drastically overpowered. MWD is the ony real counter to a bubble, so not having one makes them damn near impossible to escape.
IMO the best wy to make webs work would be to make their effect instant rather then a gradual thing. If the vaga started moving at its slowed speed instantly it would not be able to float to the gate, thereby making webs and the minmatar recons truely effective at killing these ships. Here's a thought, wait.
Seriously 5 times out of 10 a ceptor or a vaga ect. will mwd back to the gate and bounce. Wait till he hits the gate activate webs and boom he's 3k off the gate and dead. Very seldom do vaga's get thu our camps because we wait. And if they do get back, it's amazing how many times they're balzy enough to try it again ^_^

Funny but really the correct answer is 100m/s
also the thing about webs is.
webs = speed tank on or speed tank off
There is no middle ground as webs are a must have in the holy trinity of pvp modules the scram, the web, the mwd.
webs are too powerful hence the prevalence of speed fits in roaming gangs.

A Huginn is as costly as a Vagabond and meant to counter speed ships, and currently it can't do it's job because polycarbons and snake sets are overpowered.
Because a polysnaked vagabond must be stopped with the same ease as a hull tanking vagabond?

this is the best response to "nerf vagabond/speedfit" threads and I will be using it from now on
I am a pretty terrible vaga pilot but as minmatar I feel I have to argue against nerfs on principle

Huginn was never meant to stop Vagabonds escaping to gates, it's meant to stop Amarr ceptors who want to web its Minmatar compratiots. --------------- ∞ TQFE
