Why can't they sort this mess out? Just been lagged for over half an hour and probably lost my ship because of it....

On the left hand side of the site there's a button labeled "Create New Petition." I suggest clicking it and request being moved to the last system you were in before you jumped to Jita.
And hopefully you've learned your lesson to never get near Jita on a weekend. ---

Is there any way to travel whilst avoiding it? CCP should make it off-limits until the problem is fixed.

a jita bypass might help the lag issue slightly. Something like the standard highway byasses around major cities.

Edited by: Sicil Fioet on 28/01/2008 02:44:13 you can plot a route to some places manually to avoid jita unfortunately there is no setting on the map called "avoid Jita" so it will require about 10 minutes playing around with the map (then you just can write the route down) but it is still better than losing hours of play time

If your autopilot course takes you through Jita, cancel it. Set a waypoint at Perimeter instead and then set another one at your final destination. This should work in pretty much every case when it comes to staying out of Jita itself.

Jita is simply extremely populated, we've pretty much done what we can for it now but in the future there are things planned that will probably help a bit. Don't expect miracles though, if we get better code or hardware or whatever there will also come more people, I would suggest looking a bit at the systems surrounding Jita and other calmer hotspots for trading around the universe.

Jita is a PIA. Find another trade hub there are quite a few. I'd name them but... for fear of turning them into Jita I will not. Use your head, don't jump into Jita. And everybody says speed is minmatar's "thing". Minmatar can tank, gank, alpha, snipe, do ew(web), nano. What isnt "minmatar's thing"? A- Mining?

To give you an idea, they do try, all the time, but people simply like to have a "trading hub" and will keep creating one no matter what they do. It used to be Yulai, and as soon as they nerfed the "highway" system to route traffic around the hotspots, we just moved to Jita. If they force us out of Jita, we'll just create another hub in a previously-unpopulated system. Urlen, whatever.
They can't control how we behave, and limits in how the core of the game was designed 5 years ago prevents them from being able to do much to help with crowded systems. Jita has its own dedicated server hosting it, and it's probably the biggest/fastest/most-cutting-edge machine they could possibly find. Not much else they can do.

Where is Jita?
I'm only half-kidding. I've never been there and I make a lot of my isk through trading. I just use the Amarr Homeworld, Rens, Hek and Dodixie hubs primarily. I mean, really, it's clear to any rookie after a week or two through reading the forums or corp mates that it is a lag fest. So ,unless you need POS fuel or the makings of, why go? If you hate crowds and lag then you have only yourself to hold responsible if you go there and have problems. Stop complaining about it and check out the rest of the EVE universe is my .02isk.

Download Ombey's 2-D Maps
Plot a course around Jita - set a destination somewhere you wnat to pass through and set off. As you go, add some way points to direct yourself around Jita (waypoints are set after the destination, you should only need one or two).
New Caldari is a system that springs to mind if you're wanting to get between Lonetrek and The Forge without going through Jita. For other destinations, check the maps.

Just curious about the details on this. Was your corp at war, with wartargets in system? Loaded to the brim with goods worthy of suicide-ganking by ne'er-do-wells? Not sure how else you'd actually lose you ship in there.
But you are right. Jita does really, really suck.

Jita is the reason i learned remote trading at the basic level. Now i just have to go there if i want to drop off or pick up goods there, and i can do the actual trading safely docked in a station in Perimeter.

Some stupid hour of the day when no-one else is logged in, on a weekday. That's the time to pick up/drop off stuff in Jita. Remote trading from one jump away is really simple to train.

I think Jita is the best and worst place in the game.
It's great that it is the biggest trade hub and virtually anything can be bought for cheap with good use of buy orders. It's great for selling stuff fast but better prices can be obtained from other regions.
Unfortunately it's a victim of it's own success. CCP dedicate a node to Jita and a few other hubs however as anyone who travels there knows, it's not enough. I don't blame CCP for this, players choose to go there as I do with my industrial alts. People do and will complain about it, as performance in this sys sucks, but it's the players who choose to go there, not CCP who forces everyone there. As for a resolution, I'm not sure. It would be nice to see it run smooth but as long as players flock there then we will always have this problem!

If the population of Jita was mainly because of traders and people preying on them i could understand it, but CCP could already gain a lot there by letting the autopilot plan routes around the system automatically so that people traversing Caldari space did not have to go trough there.
And of course there are still people foolish enough to actually pick missions there. Even though all the good agents got moved off to adjoining systems to relieve the burden on the system(about the same time the asteroid fields there were despawned). Those i can not understand. Why would one want to mission in a grossly overpopulated trade hub even though the most rewarding agents are elsewhere?

1. Stay out of Jita. I haven't had a reason to go there in quite a while, and I can't think of one now.
2. Look at your route - there are ways to avoid Jita, even if it means flying out of your way.

The worst part of jita is that the auto pilot uses it tons because they have warp's to jita from so far away it saves trips ( they needs to be a bypass for each system connecting to jita to eachother)

Jita is a hub because so many routes pass through it. If they change the gate links so people go around it, all the traders and manufacturers will move to where the new hub is.
The highway network needs to be composed of solar systems with no stations in them.

no i mean in addidtion to going to jita to link it to all the systems connecting to jita so people that way to move past that area and not go though jita have an option to do so.

I suggested an idea in the features and idea's forum called Econmic Hubs. I thought this might be a good way to ease the problem with Jita. I would encourage if you have ideas of how to work with jita or change the way hubs work make suggestions either in my thread or make a new thread in the Features and Ideas forum In the end there can be only one. |
