Interesting thread.
While i disagree with a lot of ideas here, id like to bring a few points to consider.
Cyno Jammer -
Jump bridges - as the defending force these allows a user simply to get to the general area of a fight quicker allowing for reasonable response times, with nano gangs been very common these days its almost essential to have a jump bridge to the area just to get there before the enemy has already left. Jump bridges are a balance for fast moving gangs allowing the defender (who has little notice an attack is coming) to get to the area faster, this increases the chance of a fight before the enemy leaves but due to the fixed nature does not allow the defender to simply get anywhere they went freely with no risk (this also makes it scoutable)
Jump bridges also allow capitals entry to a cyno jammed system this, now this is an issue, the defender gets a full capital advantage when defending a jump bridged system while still disallowing the attacker any capitals entry. Now, this is a problem as i have experienced a large number of capitals with remote repiarers can simply keep the cyno jammer tanked for an extended amount of time while the POS and defenders can whittle away at the attackers force. Harsh? Yes, but without the capitals i don't think it would be that bad.
Rule of small attack forces - While people are always going to throw as much as is needed into attacking POS this is no reason that small gang warfare can be effective, the cyno jammer is a good way of doing this, it means a capital fleet is not all you need to take a system. While a small force is never going to be able to defeat a defended POS (they can do quite well against an undefended one with the right tactics, ive seen guns and cyno jammers defeated primarily with assault frigates) with the cyno jammer mechanic this means small concentrated forces can attack the ships of the defending group in preparation for the assault on the POS.
Black ops - mixed feelings as i havent used one but after reading up on it i feel it could probably use some kind of boost i do not see allowing them ignoring Cyno jammers as that much of a problem, the ships that can actually use them are rather limited. I expect some problems may occur with Black ops ships once they become more common, however thats an issue left untill it arrises as i doubt anybody can fully predict it.
Im summary while the current system is not perfect i believe it is a lot better than the previous state of POS warfare as it removes the focus from Capital ships, and while i am a capital pilot myself, conventional ship warfare i find a lot more fun and attack/defense stratgys certainly require a lot more thought. Remove the ability for cap ships to use jump bridges and make changes to black ops and i believe this would be a great start for improvment a lot of the suggested changes are quite radical and would seriously damage various aspects of the game, slow and steady people, slow and steady! -----------------------
