Up to now, the faces of the people of EVE are just a picture, a photograph taken some time ago. Well, after playing good old StarCraft I thought - why not making them move a little? With Trinity it might be possible to give our character pictures some life... Having them blink from time to time, have them looking aside to something that's more interesting than a camera lens... Things like that... --- This is your Captain speaking. Thank you for flying with our spaceline. Please remain seated until the ship has completely burned out. Thank you. |

As you say, they are photographs. As a kind of defining property, photographs don't move.

One of my great fears with regard to ambulation is that I won't be able to re-create the Reggie look. What if I don't get his hair right? What if I forget that little bar code under his eye? The quiet, forlorn look? The single, glistening tear that I imagine is just about to blaze a trail down his rugged cheek and into his Deteis stubble?
Basically, there's no way to recover the conditions that generated our portraits. Your face is a relic, the output of a one-use machine that has been shattered and lost forever. Cherish it.

Actually Reggie, I do believe that the game server doens't actually store the image, but in fact stores the properties that originally created it (all the sliders on creation). That is why there was such a long period of exclamation points talking on the forum. They hadn't gotten around to rendering all the chars for the forum server.

What Clansworth said. I think same applies to the ship icons too. They are being rendered on the client and this is also why the new trinity ship icons look so bad at the sizes they are being rendered at.
