My time here in eve, has been long and has been manifested through multiple faces (characters) since my mmo beginnings in 2004. I was never a mmo fan, until about 4 years ago when I discovered eve and signed up, since then I have never looked back, or regretted dedicating so much time and effort into this game we all play.
I am 32, I really am to old to ***** about this that and the other, after all it is a game, and I made the choice, to play it.
No I am not quitting, no you cannot have my stuff, no I donÆt play wow...
Until about late 2006- early 2007, eve wasàwell the most fun ever, but since then its appeal has been on a downward spiral..i am not quite sure if I can attribute this to any one thing, but for the most part I think itÆs the crowding and ever exploding population which is taking its toll on the current hardware infrastructure WHICH is obviously approaching its limits at an unprecedented pace.
Being from a marketing background, CCPÆs decision to take the direction they are with regards to steam, is really a double edged swordàI mean the exposure eve will get on steam, will generate new revenueàlots of it, but on the same token, they open themselves up to the other side of blade, and by that I mean they will be introducing MORE pressure on a system, which as previously stated, is having difficulties dealing with the load it has now, let alone the potential load generated by leads made with eveÆs exposure to steam.
Marketing , for me anyways, YES generating more potential customers BUT not at the expense of my existing customer base. The best clients are those that come back, because unless you ôscrewö them they will keep coming back (the most part) àsometimes even if a cheaper product is made available from someone else(within reason).
Why ?? because of serviceàmost people, donÆt shop for a productàthey shop for the serviceàpeople will pay more for a product with good serviceàthan the same product with no service.
Obviously time and effort went into your decision to market Eve on steam, I understand that big companies donÆt just go ôhey lets do thisö and do it without any sort of analysis, risk assessment ectàbut really youÆs must have been drinking when you made that decision.
Just so people know, I am a HUGE fan of steam platform. Regards
Ps if you reply with any of the following (inc in a combination) you truly are an idiot; .: Epic .: Fail .: Mad Props
