It's a bit silly tbh. It's causing a civil war within /b.
Everybody is arguing with everybody else. One person thinks that we should do it for the lulz, another says we should do it for the good of mankind.
Can't you just do it for both reasons?
This, they hardly seem to be incompatable goals.
And does anyone else find it strange that Anonymous is meant to be some sort of secret organisation and everyone knows who is behind it? (community wise, if not individuals)
That's what makes things just so hilarious. 1. It's really easy to find. Virtually everybody who has spent more than a few months on the better sections of the internet (aka not Myspace / youtube / newgrounds.fail) will have heard of Anonymous or that other thing. 2. It's really easy to tell who is part of it. 3. It makes it really easy to tell who is a total dumb**** when they post threats against them, or news articles.
E.g. Fox news posting about a 'secret underground organization of hackers'. Secret? Not quite. Underground? Kind of. Organisation? lol. Hackers? DDOS is hacking now?
People who go on about how they are terrorists, haters, threats to society, etc. need to spend 5 minutes in their lovely company, to realize that barely anyone takes it seriously. It's all one big joke.
Sure, it may be racist, distasteful, sadistic and cruel, but deep down, almost everybody on this planet has thought thoughts like they do. Everybody has wanted to see what it is like to do those things. They are the embodiment of what humanity wishes to be. They fulfill. They achieve. 族---族

This is what I was thinking. On its own without all the crap, it's a great way to develop your skills at perception, noticing trends and differences, etc. If you want to be the next Monk it's a great regimen to follow. As a "religion"? Whatever.

Agreeed, sitting down and watching how people act and consider how you act in similar circumstances can be very instructive. Wrapping it in layers of jargon and making a religion of it is just special appealing to the emotionally subnormal. Which makes me wonder about Tom Cruise, as he has undeniable charisma. You don't get to make as many hit films as he has without it.
Guess he's just a nutter.

L. Ron essentially created a dialect of English that's further from the modern language than Elizabethan English. By the time you see these documents within the Church, you'd have already spent hoards of time and money getting there and slowly understanding this language.
Quote: Wonder what those Anonymous lot are planning on doing, their you tube video was... interesting.
Given the originating community, they'll probably just get sidetracked by a new anime release, and we'll never hear from them again.
Originally by: Nuala Reece That's the point of jargon - if it made sense people would see it was valueless immediately. Jargon appeals to two kinds of people - people who want to be in control and people who want to be told what to do.
Not entirely. Jargon tends to form naturally in any group. It often looks incomprehensible to an outsider, but it's very efficient within the group.
However, the jargon of the CoS didn't arise naturally like that. It's obviously quite deliberate.
Originally by: Micheal Dietrich My question really is that we know Tom Cruise is into it but what about Katie Holmes?
Consider, for a moment, that L. Ron's wife once admitted to running an infiltration of the IRS so that L. Ron would appear to have no knowledge of the events. (This can be verified from court documents.) Then consider that both individual members and the Church as a whole tend to emulate L. Ron in tactics and personality.
Katie has a very real reason to be afraid.
I suspect that the above could be their downfall, though. They may be so intent on doing it the way L. Ron did it that they can't imagine another way. This means their tactics lack flexibility. All that needs to be done is find a loophole in their methods, which the Scientologists will be psychologically unable to close.

HNNNGGH, is not a meme.
Rules 1 and 2 apply when talking about it, too much crap has already leaked through, and Co$ has reacted very harshly in some places.

these days i find myself having trouble to decide which is to despise more scientology or /b/.
i mean scientology gets a headstart for being an religion. and then they have this little issue with taking their beliefs a little bit too serious. i mean, i have no problem with their beliefs whatsoever, they are in NO WAY stranger than the belief in christ or manitou . BUT when you belief in million year old DC-10s you better not take your crap too seriously...
but on the other hand /b/.... its starting to look a lot like a "religion" too... or at least some people are starting to take it really really serious.
in any way, meh.

To paraphrase R Hubbard:
The quickest way to make a million is to start a religion.
Lets be honest here. Its a con, nothing more and nothing less. Its totally dependent on money and nothing else. If you dont have the cash you cant proceed within. However, one thing is for sure, IT ISNT A RELIGION. What it is is BS, a lie, a con, a rip-off, a joke, a cult, a brainwash technique, a bunch of useless nobs but it aint a religion. Theres simply too much money involved now that it will take a massive exposure of its lies to finally kill it. As for Katie Holmes.... she has neither the talent nor the ability to make it in Hollywood as an actress so marrying Nobhead Cruise was an easy way to fame and fortune. Nicole Kidman she aint thats for sure. Scienctology should have died with Hubbard, dhame it didnt.

haha... classic episode.
Regarding Katie Holmes, according to the new unauthorized biography on Tom Cruise she had to sign some sort of private contract before marrying Cruise stating her affiliation to Scientology, and agreeing that if she or her children would ever get mentally or terminally ill they must submit to Scientology-only treatments.
It also claims that Nicole Kidman, who by the time of her divorce with Cruise hated Scientology, was threatened that if she were to publicly discuss or speak negatively about it, private details of her sex life would be made public and custody of her children would be challenged.

Scientology is a whole bunch tinfoil hattery if you read up on it. Some of its true some of its made up. One example is they really believe people in DC-9 like planes came down from space and populated the Earth. The pyramid scam thing isn't really on the level that most consider it a scheme but a kinda a stipend. That said there extremely active on the internet with ALOT of funds. Don't blame me, blame the main I'm supporting. |
