Why isn't CCP reacting??
The EULA & Terms of Service forbit macro mining... but is it?
All around EVE you see macro miners and when asking CCP you get:
"If you believe a character to be a macro miner, please file a petition with the character names, and it will be looked into as soon as possible. Using macro's for mining has always been, and still is considered a very serious EULA violation."
And the default answer to petitioning names is: "Thanks for reporting this. I will look into it and take the appropriate action. Thanks for contacting customer support. If there is nothing further I can assist you with, would you mind if I closed out this petition for you?"
or: "Thank you for reporting this, we will look into it and take the appropriate actions. I'm now closing this petition as solved since we have all the necessary information to investigate the case. "
But the players still logon and macro for days and weeks etc..
Is it that hard to shut them down? Or are they protecting income? There are so many websites you can download the macr's from... just 30 dollar and you can earn 150m plus a day without detection...
This ain't fair, but what to do?? start ur own macro because CCP will not act on it??

I know what you mean, i filed a few petitions myself but never saw something happening against the macro's. We all have too work hard to make isk for a gtc or other things. This spoils it for the rest of the gamers. Hope that CCP will reply to this topic. Greetz,

They pay 14.95 a month, directly or indirectly.
They populate systems where any additional lag they add to the game doesn't influence the game-breaking lag in fights.
They don't whine about game changes.
Sounds like the perfect customer to me.

Very occasionally CCP actually tell you the number of people they've banned in the last month, or whatever, for ISK selling/macroing. It's usually quite high.
Clearly, they aren't managing to ban all the macro users. I guess it's a combination of factors, not least that they don't seem to have very good macro detection tools. Things are complicated by farmers - some farmers have fewer clients per person running than some "legit" users.
Charitable fool that I am, I say that macros are still here because they're hard to eliminate not because CCP secretly want them in game for their money.

Delete the topic please, there are enough topics where you can discuss... And, macro mining isn't against EULA, botting is though. Don't confuse the two!

I reported one and got that message you indicated and left it at that for about a month. Then, in my frustration seeing the marcoer going at it over and over 23/7, I filed another petition, then all of a sudden, 'POOF' he was gone. I had him in my address book, and he never logged in again.
Maybe someone else petitioned him as well, so keep filing petitions till he's gone.

It is actually really hard to prove without running the risk of damaging your "legit" customers.

a) CCP is much more interested in shutting a whole ring of macro/isk sellers than a single character, so if a macrouser is detected they leave him in game for a period to follow his actions and to get his contacts;
b)CCP is interested in getting the isk buyers too, so again they waith before banning to get the sellers too;
c) the manpower for the above mentioned tasks is limited and it can't be increased too much (or we would have to pay more) and the people doing that task must be careful to avoid to damage legitimate players.
All the above are the reasons why you can see the same supposed macro at work without apparent action by CCP.
If you notice the whines in forum from people chaugt buying isk are ciclical. My impression is that CCP follow the sold/brought isk flow for some time, then every month or so they do a big sweep , banning sellers and adjusting the buyer wallet.

If that was the reaction of CCP on an petition instead of just closing petition and .. "we look into it..." it would be that more satisfying :-) If this is the case... I love to wait a month or so to never see the macro'ers log back on :-)
Thanks for this explanation...
