What is wrong with level IV courier missions?
The last one I got was moving 1500 m3 of stuff for 98,000 isk and 138 LP ... LOL ... its like a level 2 mission
The scary part is that this seems to be typical. _____________________________________________ I am not an alt |

Name one. The smallest is 1500m3 of Drill Parts for 'Silly Miners' and 2000m3 for 'Stress Reliever'

Edited by: Horchan on 31/01/2008 07:08:01 Off the top of my head, the 1m3 L4 couriers are (and I forget their names) the ones that have you:
Pick up a scientist Deliver a doll Pick up a frozen food Pick up a cattle
All of these were given by multiple L4 Production and Manufacturing agents. They also gave me couriers ranging from 1500m3 to 6000m3, but 1m3's were mixed in as well. Mind you, I haven't run missions since Trinity.
Edit: remembered the fourth 1m3 courier ---

What happened to LPs? Macros - this happened.
Ever seen those 50-150 noobcorpers in lowsec grinding those missions? And now remember tha LPs automatically acommodate to difficulty level of a mission (thats why new missions always give crap LPs). So atm as long as lv4 couriers are farmed to death - its not worth to do them unless you are going for storyline missions.

From what faction? I run Amarrs and Caldari. From my count I ran 72 Courier missions in the last 48 hours. And these are the oens I got (Mostly caldari, about 10 were Amarr.)
Move the Goods 5km3: 8 Fertile Ground 6km3: 12 Good Harvest 6km3: 6 Stress Reliever 2km3: 12 Equipped For The Job 6km3: 10 Troublemakers 1500m3: 5 Incriminating Evidence 2500m3: 10 Under Construction 7km3: 4 Silly Miners 1500m3: 3 Human Problem 3km3: 2
It's kinda sad I can remember the volumes off the top of my head, but the simple thing is there are no small courier L4s for Caldari or Amarr. (I have run over 100 Amarr courier L4s, yesterday was mostly Caldari is all.)
I'm assuming your minmatar or gallente then. Or your talking about L3s cause there are plenty of 1m3 L3 Couriers (such as moving the Kaimeiras)

I've done both Galente and Amarr courier mission. Galente you often get less them 5 m3 to move with a lv 4, while Amarr you get at least 100 m3 for even a lv 2.
I also thought the Ammar ones normally sent you further. 1-4 jumps was the norm for Galente, but were quite rare with the Amarr as most were 5-8.
In all not ballanced at all. I have no idea if the rewards/standing gain per mission is better for Amarr, I havn't looked at that.

I know that Minmatar has these 1mm^3 lvl4 couriers, as I used to get them working for Core Complexion. I think I recall getting them with Imperial Armaments (Amarr corp) also, but this was >1 year ago so I might be mis-remembering.

Yes having run hundreds and hundreds and hundreds (*starts crying*)of missions to force standings gains for friends corps I've never had any of the 1m3 lvl 4's for Carthum Conglomerate (manufacturing) or the other Amarr ones I've tried. Even the storyline hauling ones I get for them are 40k (but give good standings so I like them). I'm running low sec if its relevant.

Aside from 'Move the Goods', I don't remember doing any missions of those names. I've only run missions for Gallente. Guess it does go to show that different factions do have different missions, even couriers. ---

admin agents give out heaps of the 1m3 courier missions.
On my lv4 admin agents in low sec, with both relevant connection skills to lv IV i get nearly 1800lp and over half mill reward+bonus. Most of the time its only 1 or 2 jumps to take as well. Gives a nice break from 10k lp kill missions

Don't forget picking up the exotic dancers for the bachelor party...
I've mostly run couriers for Gallente, but recently SOE, all level 4. Really, about half are doable in a shuttle. Of course, there are also the garbage hauling, arms cache, silly miners, disgruntled workers, and so forth which are between 1000 and 5000. And of course, Insane Industrialist for 2M+ units of Tritanium, although I haven't seen that one in a while.

Courier mission rewards don't make sense. I often get courier missions which are a short trip (2 jumps or so) and low volume that pay more than a 5-7 jump trip with several k cargo.
Also LP reward I get for some high-level lvl 4 agents pays like 10 times more than a lvl 4 agent of neg security.
Those missions that you have to do 2 jumps and pay 1.5k LP are really nice. At least if you grind LP.

I think I've figured it out... It has nothing to do with distance, and the same mission to go 1 jump gives the same rewards as 7 jumps. It has noting to do with volume. It has to do with how important the mission in from an PR perspective. For example "Go get oxygen before we all die!" gives more rewards then "Go get me some beef so I can have a steak."
Their you have it. Reqards are not tied to dificulty, but to something most people don't care about.

Actually, I noticed it more came down to if it was a "Pick up" or "Drop off" mission. For a "Drop off" mission, you're only required to go to the destination before you can turn in the mission. Comparatively, for a "Pick up" mission, you're required to go there and come back before you can turn in the mission.
That means you can turn in "Drop offs" quicker, and since the LP reward for a mission takes into account the average time it has taken for people to do it in the past, they are worth less LP, even though you still have to take the same time to travel back to the agent as "Pick up" missions. ---

Another theory of courier mission LP rewards:
Most of my high-pay missions come from split kill/courier agents (like admin/PR etc). Maybe those agents give more of one type of mission (the low-volume missions). But maybe it is more common for those who do a lot of courier mission do it from specialized agents (distribution/production etc) which maybe give out more high-volume missions.
If there are more people (or at least there are more finished missions) doing the missions for distribution/production etc and they do it maybe more efficient (like running several missions from several agents in courier mission hubs) they finish them faster than those of us who do agents from admin/pr etc agents (different set of missions usually).
Also many of us who run missions for those split mission agents probably often run the occasional courier mission running on AP when we example do out-of game stuff (at least I do) so they take longer to run.
