I recently bought and outfitted a Cormorant for salvaging, and I was wondering if you guys had any advice for the setup of it. This is my current setup atm.
Highs: 4 x Salvagers (eventually- as of tonight I'll be able to use tractor beams) 4 x Tractor Beams
Meds: Cap recharger x 1 Cap Booster x 1 Medium Capacitor Battery x 1 Afterburner x 1
Lows: Expanded Cargo Hold
Thought? Suggestions?
It's running pretty well, but there's always room for improvement.

Mids, up to you really. If you salvage before handing in the mission in, use a afterburner and you might as well fit a couple of cap rechargers. A shield booster or extender maybe, I know that in some missions you can get one or two rats respawning once you've cleared a room.
If you salvage after handing in, fit a MWD and the rest cap rechargers so you can zip between the wrecks good and fast.

I don't think it will fit with the 4x Tractors.
Try: High: 4x Salvager 4x Tractors Med: 4x Cap Recharger I Low: 1x Power Diagnostic System 1
It's not very fast traveling. But it will take a very long time to run out of cap if all your Highs are not running at the same time.

I find 5/3 trac/salva is better Sig removed. Lacks EVE related content. For more information feel free to contact [email protected]. ~Saint |

That's okay with rigs. Without rigs you will spend a LOT more time salvaging than tractoring.
This is my setup and it rawks:
High - 4x Salvager 4x Tractor
Mid - 1x MWD II, 1x Small Capacitor Battery II, 2x Cap Recharger II
Low - Expanded Cargo
3x Salvage Tackle rigs
T1 stuff is good enough if you don't have the skills, and just swap out the MWD with an Afterburner in deadpsace. But the rigs work so well it almost seems like overkill...

Edited by: Asmosis on 04/02/2008 11:42:37 Edited by: Asmosis on 04/02/2008 11:41:35 With the recent changes I'd recommend either training for a hurricane (minmatar BC) or at a minimum spend a day getting galante frig3 so that you can use the catalyst, its about 50% more cargo space than cormorant.
Definitely get something with more space before you put a BS worth of rigs into it.
Marauder > Amarr BS > Minmatar BC > Gallante Destroyer.
An Amarr BS can hold 4k stuff without cargo rigs, so can salvage several missions at once if your fast enough that wrecks dont expire. Its a bit overkill, but Min BC or Gallante destroyer would only take a day or two to reach and are vastly superior.
You can easily get 2-3k of loot against some factions like mercenaries even after you jettison the scrap metal and cap boosters. All those BS turrets/armor plates take up a lot of space :)
Catalyst gives 829 cargo vs about 650 on cormorant and can still run 4/4 salvagers/tractors and an AB almost permanent with a cap recharger.
Minmatar BC gives about 2k cargo Amarr BS gives about 4k cargo (overkill unless you want the cap charges)

i have 2 salvagers - i a badger mkII setup for salvaging (for those lvl4 missions with large amounts of wrecks - specially sansha /blood angels missions) means i can get all salvage and loot in one run. The other ship i use is the osprey.

Edited by: Galeros on 04/02/2008 12:20:44 Cargo is not that important: I usually drop a jetcan and use tractor to drag it behind. Additional 27500 m3 that I bookmark after mission and come pick up with an industrial (unless it fits into 650 m3 that my Thrasher has, of course).

This is the problem with your whole suggestion. When you're getting that much loot the cargo space no longer matters, and it only matters how fast you can salvage while keeping your cap stable. A corm can keep on going even with an MWD thanks to loads of mids for cap mods. Not to mention the difference between a fully expanded corm and catalyst is only a single large turret worth of loot in most cases (since they drop in practically all lvl 4s).
Corm > Catalyst for level 4 salvaging in general.

I fit overdrive into lows instead of a cargo expander. Allows going well over 500 on AB while deadspace is still around, and it still has enough cargo for most valuable loot; indy can pick up the trash for recycling later. Cargo scanner is usefull sometimes as well.
