Ive just got myself a caldar badger mk2 so i could mine with 2 lasers without having to go to a station every 5 mins. What i was wondering is, ive only just started reading the forums, and by the sounds of it, no1 uses a indy to actuly mine, why is that?
Also, what should i outfit my badger mk2 with to mine?

You are much faster to mine with another ship , that can use more miners and can use drones , mine and eject. Then change ship and haul in indy.
Also inmore dangerous space you have no chance to mine in indy... you need a more powerful ship with some mean of defence

Edited by: Deathblo on 28/03/2004 00:43:33 Like Earthan said. Most people divide up the task of mining and hauling amongst a mining group. Several players will equip cruisers with four or five mining lasers each and just crank out the ore. When the cruiser cargo holds are full the'll eject the ore into a cargo can which the indy will pick up and store in its cargo hold. When the indy is full he/she will transport the minerals to station while the crusiers continue to mine. This saves time because the miners are still mining when the transport ship is docking. The miners will have plenty of ore waiting to be transported back when the indy gets back from dock.
You probably knew this already though.
The reason most players don't bother to solo mine is the the above method is so much more efficient that it makes solo indy mining pale in comparison. The indy's productivity alone doesn't really match up because they only equip one or two mining lasers. So whenever a players normal mining group (i.e. the cruisers) aren't mining, most players chose other activities like agent missions and npc pirate hunting because they feel its a better use of the time.
Bottom line. Its really not efficient to work alone. Group work and cooperation improve productivity.

Yeah but since i dont have a corp, and its hard to find a decent organized one, its near impossible to get in a mining gang, where ppl have cruisers with tons of mining lasers and drones :(

Well if you ever want just two more mining lasers and a drone to help you mine just Evemail me. ;)
Seriously though, that's a problem in all multi-player games. Getting other players to play with you. :)
Never forget, a Jack-of-all-trades is master of none. |
