Originally by: Mad Scorpion I believe that many of the problems with negotiation with the Amarr Empire are as follows:
1) The Amarr Empire has not, even after all these years, officially recognized the Republic as a legal and sovereign empire. To them we are nothing more than livestock and wayward escaped slaves.
They were accepted as full partners in the treaty that gave life to Concord. That should be a sufficient of gesture of peace considering the state the relations were in before.
Originally by: Mad Scorpion 2) Though there have been some social reforms and a more liberal view of slavery amongst many in the empire, many more of greater power still hold the old hard line views. The assassination of Doriam II, the most progressive emperor to date is indicative of this.
I don't know, but you just said that the Amarrians have become progressively more liberal. Should this not be an advantage to negotiations rather than a problem?
Originally by: Mad Scorpion 3) Slavers raid our border worlds daily, enslaving our people with no official response nor action from the empire. If the people in power were indeed working towards a solution to the slavery issue, why ignore this point.
It is clear that you have never worked for the Amarr Navy or other Empire organizations. They regularly send me out to take down illegal slavers in Empire space, so what you claim is simply untrue. Are you suggesting the Empire should send in navy ships to hunt for illegal slavers inside The Republic?
Originally by: Mad Scorpion 4) The pride, ego and arrogance of the Amarr along with their blind faith in their scriptures, which call for the conquest of the universe and enslavement of all people stand in the way to any peaceful solution. Not only is a socio political change needed in the empire but a theological change as well.
Are you an expert of The Scriptures now? The scriptures do not call for such a thing at all, please get a proper education.
You have a choice, and you choose the path of war, the path of aggression, the path of terrorism, the path of hate. We will defend ourselves. We will exercise patience. We still extend our hand in an offer of peace to you, but if you bite it, we will whip you down like the dog you will have proven yourself to be.
Blaming us for you atrocities may be convenient, but it still remains your choice. Many choose otherwise, the responsibility of your choices will remain your own and you will answer to God for them. ____
