I recently started a few invention jobs for some Armor Thermic Harderner II modules. I had a number of named thermic hardeners in the same tab of my mobile lab. However, the invention UI did not show these as available base items. It just said something like "no base item available".
The jobs started ok, but I can't understand why the base items couldn't be used. Any ideas?

You can only add items of meta level below 5 to invention jobs. So no t2 or faction base items.
The inventory caching of pos labs got better with the last patch, but is still wacky at best. Force a session change by docking or leaving the system after filling the lab. This usually fixes it. Personally, I fill the labs the night before the invention jobs.

In my case I had N-Type Thermic Hardeners in my mobile lab, and it didn't recognise them as base items.

Edited by: Big Socks on 02/02/2008 15:01:00 Is the job being done on a POS?
if so make sure that its looking in the same place as where u have the Base items stored.
Big socks' hanger instead og Little Socks' hanger! :)

Of course it is at a POS, where else would he have a mobile lab?
As Mioelnir said, it is a cacheing problem of the mobile lab hangar. Drop the stuff a day early or force session changes to get the hangar contents re-indexed after dropping the stuff. -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |

You are correct. Loading the items into the mobile lab and coming back later worked.
Thanks for your help.

the hangars are cached as someone already said
you either force a reload by session change or log out
or you preload them

ive had some mobile labs lock up on me, so the decryptor slots are no longer useable no matter what you do, gonna put a pettition in tonight for it (been like that for about a month now). may well be the same for base items, the only fix ive heard of that I havnt tried yet is unanchoring the lab and repackaging it.

Every item must be in the INPUT hangar (trinity chanced the default to hangar 1). Exception: The BPC can be at an in system station (same system as POS) for remote invention.
And a reload of the mobile lab cache can be forced through session change or relogging.

Edited by: Bambi on 05/02/2008 12:14:35 I noticed some wierd glitches with POS labs over the last day or two. Labs seem to have the old cached item bug again where they dont see items put in for invention jobs. A quick fox for these seems to be jumping out of the system and returning, then the items are visible.
I also had the invention option stop responding, and also manufacturing in a station seemed a little fubar yesterday. All seemed to be working by yesterday evening though.
Not that it helped my invention success on BCU II's, with a meta 1 item and 5/5/5 skills, 2/15 attempts :-( But I made up for that with 2/2 Golem success rate :-)
