Hey guys,
I'm relatively new to Amarr and the whole interceptor thing, but the only setups I found for the male are from early 2005.. so I have the impression they're not really up-to-date any longer.
Thus I am requesting you malediction(and crusader if you wish) pilots to share your setups for solo and gang action.
Thanks in advance, Fay

2 OD, 1 nano MWD, web, warp disruptor 3 standard launchers
Fit named/t2 where skills and isk allow. Could use rockets if you want, but usually best to stay out of web range (unless you need a web on the target).

Multi Role: Gang tackler, and anti tackle/ceptor work 3x Rocket II's, 1x Small AC(insert fav small turret here really) 1x MWD II, 1x Warp Disruptor II, 1x Web(fleeting or t2) 2x ODII 1x DCII
Carry CN thermal(was em before trinity) and explosive rockets. Also carry Javelin variants of your favorite dammage types. When tackling large ships switch to javs(your speed will remain above 4.4kms unrigged, still fast enough to speed tank most things) and suppress drones. javs are fantastic at this btw.
If warrior 2's get on you, or a hostile ceptor/fast frigate enters the fight switch back to CN rockets, you're speed will imeediately return to normal while you reload. Deal with the threat, return to tackling/drone suppression.
If you want to simply tackle with it, switch to standards and a sensor booster instead of a web.

*3 rocket IIs MWD II, web, 24k dark blood adaptive plate, SAR II, CPR II
speed rigs or whatever
The investment you'll put into the measily 10m spent on the plate will make you last 10 times as long when combating other interceptors. Armor resists are this ship's strength. Of course for general tackling just use speed mods.
Originally by: IHeartYou However, Crows seem to suit me best because it's just so much fun to toy with your target, then own them with your 150-200dps.

If I was to tank the thing, I'd look at maybe a plate, actually... maybe 200mm?

I played around in EFT and it'd me allow me this:
Highs: -3 Arbalest Standard Missile Launchers Mids: -catalyzed cold-gas MWD -fleeting scrambler -patterned stasis web Lows: -2 ODII -emergency dc
This would be relatively cheap.. but with everything on I could run this for a mere ~2min30secs. skilling propulsion jamming doesn't help much according to EFT... any ideas?

Edited by: Lyria Skydancer on 02/02/2008 21:54:42 1. Dont fit standard launcher, youll have the dps of a noob ship. Everything that needs to be tackled outside rocket range will shrug off your damage anyway.
2. If you fit repper youll be wise to fit a nos or your cap will die in 2 cycles and so will your ship.
3xRocket II 1xNos
1xNamed MWD 1x24km disrupt 1xweb
1xSARII 2xCap power relay
Ive never lost to another inty with this fit. Either they run or they cant harm you or you kill them when they try. Great tackler ontop of that.

I'm not really talking about fighting other intys 1on1.. with rockets I'd be in webbing range no?

It doesnt matter. Even if youre purely in for tackling for your gang its better with web+rockets. Rockets kill drones faster. Rockets scare other inties off when needed. Web is needed so target doesnt escape your gang and for intercepting nano ships. There is really nothing this fit cant do.
The reason for std launchers being utterly useless is that anything they could hurt damage wise will be too fast to damage and anything it can damage will not even feel your missiles. To hurt something small and fast with missiles you need it webbed and then you might as well go with rockets because theyll do more damage. -------------------------------------- The Inquisition III - Relentless Retaliation |

@Lyria
thanks a lot, you sure are a helpful person :) I tried your fitting and all I changed was mwdII to catalyzed and rocketII to arbalest rocket.. I'll change it later once I can actually use them :P
I suppose I'll need to train some more skills for rockets to make this viable eh.. although I got missile bombardment to 5 at least (started out as caldari).
What worries me though.. with this setup I get a max m/s of 3,26k.. will I even be fast and agile enough for an orbit at.. umm... 15km for example?
Greetings

Your navigation skills are still a bit low im guessing but yes it will prolly orbit at around 3km/s at 15km it say. You might want to consider 2xspeed mods instead of 2x cap relay until you get you nav skills up a bit. Try both see how it goes.
Once you get AWU2 you can fit T2 MWD + repper + nos. -------------------------------------- The Inquisition III - Relentless Retaliation |

aye.. I guess it's all about "don't get to the point where you actually have to keep repping" energy balance-wise :)
Now I can't wait to try it out in gang pvp.. I gotta say thanks again.. one day I'll be rich enough to pvp in rigged ceptors even :>

hey guys.. sorry for necroing(well not really) my own thread..
I've got around to train for this beauty now and my fitting right now is:
-HIGHS- 3x named Standard Missile Launcher with em/explosive missiles.. so I can adapt to shield/armor tank.
-MIDS- 1mn MWD Faint Warp Prohibitor I Named cap recharger (eutectic, f-b10 nominal etc.)
-LOWS- OD II Nano II IS II
so.. on EFT I do (crappy missile skills included.. except for bombardment @ 5) 20 DPS. Lol.. I can hardly kill a cruiser if at all..
with rockets I'd get 35 dps, but I canno't fly into web range or I might just get toastet.. any ideas on how to successfully do solo pvp in this ship?

As long as this thread's been necro'd, let me ask something. I've only just begun flying interceptors altogether and the Malediction and Crusader in particular these past couple of weeks. My Malediction fittings:
[Malediction, Skydancer 41/7/3674/2KR] Small 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I 2x Capacitor Power Relay II
Catalyzed Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Warp Disruptor II X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
3x 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Foxfire Rocket Small 'Knave' I Energy Drain
I've noticed that, even if I jack my missile/rocket skills higher in EFT, I still couldn't do more than about 48 DPS. Even for an Interceptor, this seems low. Lyria, how do you kill anything with this bird? Or have I just been flying battleships too long?
Mostly, I've been using the Mal as a pure tackler:
[Malediction, Pure Tackler 41/7/5386/2K] 2x Overdrive Injector System II Capacitor Power Relay II
1MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Disruptor II Supplemental Scanning CPU I, Targeting Speed
3x 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Foxfire Rocket Small Nosferatu II
Cap stable and tackles out to 28KMs at over 5K/sec.
For fighting, I've been using the Ganksader with Gatling lasers, getting upwards of 150 DPS. With the 'sader I can kill stuff, but the Mal still scares the crap out of me.
Lyria, am I doing something wrong? Is 40ish DPS enough to accomplish what you do with the Malediction? Is this about what most interceptors do? -- Meridius Dex --

in order of importance:
-practice on test server against a thorax with different drones, different ranges -better navigation and cap skills so you don't need the recharger and can fit a web -javelin rockets for web evasion, faction rockets for more dps--standard malediction and standard crow is pretty terrible at doing DPS, much less coping with drones or anything fast -train thermodynamics for overheating web or MWD
You may also want to consider a damage control II instead of a nano or inertial. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

Cool, a setup named after me
I can go through the 3 setups. 1 for malediction and 2 for crusader that work very well.
Malediction a la Lyria
3xRocket Launcher II, faction missiles and have some spare javelins just in case 1xSmall knave energy drain
1xMWDII 1xWEBII 1xWDII
1xSmall Accommondation Vestment Repper 2xCap relays that fit
2xaus thruster
I get 58dps with faction rockets here. Thats enough to kill inties. Inties can max tank around 30 dps if they rep.
Pulsader a la Lyria:
4xDual light pulse, scorch
1xMWDII 1xFleeting scrambler (20km)
2xTracking EnhancerII 2xNano II
2xaux thruster
Stupid amounts of tracking with 13km optimal. Yeah, you can mwd and hit frigs in orbit with this. 100dps approx.
Beamsader a la Lyria:
4xDual Light Beam, amarr navy microwave
1xMWDII 1xWDII
1xTracking enhancerII 2xnano II 1xOD II
2xaux thruster
wicked tracking, ofc not as wicked as pulsader but youll prolly be able to hit a pimped crow that orbits you.
20km optimal around 50+ dps.
Enjoy. All 3 setups are present and demonstrated in my latest vid. See below for link. -------------------------------------- [Video]Skirmish Warfare |

It has a rocket bonus, my suggestion would be to start there. After that, you make sure you have your web and scram. . .and your set!! (Well half-way anyway)
Lesson here is: don't fit standard launchers - if you want to use standard launchers on an interceptor - get a crow.

And that's cap stable for how long? Assuming you're not lvl5 in _all_ skills :)
I just did the same with a buddy, but I would've put a cap relay..

Cap stable long enough to kill anything frig size. If you wanna go for cruisers id suggest a perma beam run anyways. Pulseader cant avoid medium neut good enough... -------------------------------------- [Video]Skirmish Warfare |
