Ive been playin a week and joined a corp of beginners. I have very little and all i do is mine. No kills yet and had a destroyer. A large corperation highly advanced declared war on us outa the blue. A member of this corp apparently knows exactly where i am all the time and continues to destroy my ships. I go very far away and still he finds me. Is this fair? How does he locate where i am at all times? How long does a war last? Please, any help would be appreciated.

He's using a locater agent. You pay them ISK and they tell where someone is. The reply takes a few minutes though - keep moving...
TBH your best bet is to fight back.

I hate to say... yes, it is within game mechanics that this is possible. IMO it also the risk you take when joining a player controlled corp. The only safety there is against this is to stay in NPC's corporations.
As far as the other player tracking you down, if they have access to high level locater agents, they can find you anywhere within EVE. *** "Some would call me a Demon. Others, a Vampire. ya tried to fight back but dont even dent him. He sits outside the station im in and waits. Imo, its messed up that Eve creators would allow such a advanced corp to do this to a corp thats been together for a week and is 5 man strong. Best ship we have is a cruiser, which of course, didnt stand a chance either. How long do wars last? How long should i "keep moving?"

To be honest you should join a npc corp so they can't war dec you. If you have been playing a week no way your going to be able to compete.

Wars cost a substantial amount of isk every week and to be honest, if you cannot fight them, simply depriving them of any kills by not undocking is the best way to convince them to go away.
As boring as that is.

If you think that you can't win you still got several options to shorten the war.
One obvious is not undocking.

started out mining in Sirppala and before the war began he found me and kept warping into me pushing me far from the roids. When it began, he destroyed 3 ships and i had to clone 3 times inside an hour. Ya from yalls perspective i can see the humor in this bullyism. That was last night. Tonight i was 13 jumps from there in a belt inside gallante territory. He found me again and destroyed my ship. He has one of those warp things that wont let u leave. Im just curious how long do i have to stay in stations until he cannot attack me any more? Im trying to enjoy this game but is this fair?

Wardecs last a week at a time.
Have you been asked for any ransom?
If you undock in a shuttle, you should be able to warp before he locks you (or at least your pod should be able to warp - who cares about the shuttle).
Other options include: paying mercenaries, leaving your corp, creating an alt and playing on the alt for a few days until the dec expires, finding out if they have been paid by some other corp to dec you and resolving he situation diplomatically.
One piece of advice I will give you: NEVER complain that something is "not fair" in EvE. That kind of talk attracts pirates like a plump baby bunny rabbit dipped in steak sauce attracts wolves.

no, no ransom note yet. Corp ceo did a private chat with him and he accepted but never responded. This corporation is too new to **** n e one off. All we've done is mine in .9 areas. He picked the wrong corp for ransom money anyways. There simply is none. Oh, and gotcha on the fairness. Point taken.

that is called an exploit I think. Heard of people being put back into wardec'ed corp.
The way it sounds like he warps to you 0km no matter where in a grid you are. Sounds like the 3 man corp is ran by one or a few buddies. I am going to assume that at least one is in a cov op or force recon ship that can warp around cloaked to position a warp in. Can you list the name of the hostile pilots and ship type?
The wars last week at a time, and used to not cost all that much. I believe they do not cost all that much either as long as you don't run multiple wars or wars against alliances. They can pay for it to keep running.
Try gathering intel on the players of the 3 man corp. Add them to your buddy list to know who to watch out for in local (online players in hostile corp). Stay aligned when in space to a safe spot or station etc. Watch local for symbol of war targets. Try to be in less populated systems as its easier to monitor local (might want to seperate the local as its own window and keep it at top/view).
Other than fighting or deprieving them of kills, there isn't much to do other than stay docked or hire mercs to fight them. I doubt newer players can really afford mercs (though its only a 3 man corp). Just never pay their randsoms...keep uptodate med clone and fight them best you can. With numbers, try to use some EW to assist in your defence.
Good luck and have fun.

Yes it's fair. We all went through this phase and dealt with it one way or the other.
There's an alien race in a novel by Iain M. Banks that actively hunts and kills its young. The argument for doing this is that there are far too many of the young ones anyway, and this ensures that only the resourceful live to reach adulthood.

Simple solution for newb corps with members with very little sp getting wardeced by established corps. Buy a notebook and pen and run your corp from the npc corps until you get a decent sp investment and can at least fight back. Pen and paper might not be as convenient as the corp interface but it will get the job done fot the time being.

im not sure i should release his name or his corp name cause people will probley just pat him on the back. I had 5 70's in wow and was loyal to Blizzard for 3 years. Cancelled subscription a week ago for this game. I remember sittin back watching people mock a newer player that would complain about corpse camping. I would imagine here is no different. His ship? well its black long and skinny with several turrets. Sorry i dont know what its called because im still new. I guess this is the way it is and I have to accept for the next week every ship i buy he will eventually find and destroy.

Edited by: Ursula LeGuinn on 03/02/2008 03:49:56 First of all, people who wardec rookie corps for entertainment are pathetic, and they fail at EVE. The successful people are out there making billions of ISK, controlling territory in nullsec, warring with other corporations and alliances who can actually fight properly, becoming robber barons, role-playing their race's background stories, hiring themselves out as mercenaries, pirating people who have something worth taking and are actually hard targets, etc.
Lowlifes don't have anything to gain by fighting you (hardly any money, no territory, etc.), except the enjoyment of harassing people who cannot yet defend themselves meaningfully. Technically this is against the EULA (constant harassment for no purpose other than constant harassment), but apparently it's impossible for CCP to differentiate between "fledgling corp" and "six-month-old fat industrial corp".
Here's my advice:
1.) Don't speak to any of them. Do not reply to mail, do not reply to convos, and DO NOT initiate any communication with them yourself. Complaining or begging only gives them a throbbing e-rection. This goes for everyone in your corp. If they blow you up and/or pod you, quietly go about your business.
2.) Do not consider paying them off, ever. This is what they want, and you don't want to GIVE them what they want. Ignore all blackmail of this sort.
3.) Alternatively, use the wardec as a POSITIVE opportunity to learn how to evade people who want to kill you. Think of it as a fun and difficult test, that helps teach you about the game. Ideally this would happen when you have more than 1.2 million skill points, but cowards don't want to fight corps that can actually defend themselves.
4.) As a fledgling corp, don't fight back. You'll probably lose, as they have more skills, more money, and more experience than you do. Plus, THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT... for you to fight back.
5.) Make safespots and learn to use Local and your scanner to keep an eye out for them.
6.) If all else fails, make a new alt (no need to train it), buy a shuttle or cheap frigate, and go "sightseeing" for a week or two. You can visit the EVE Gate and various other "landmarks" around the EVE cluster.
7.) If you have two accounts, you can make a whole new alt entirely, and play on that when people decide they want to bully you.
***************************
My corp has been wardecced twice so far, and frankly, I don't mind at all. We still have just as many members as we had before, and the 'tards who were after us failed to get more than a couple worthless haulers and some salvaging destroyers. I never died, because I too have locater agents, and am very good at using Local and the scanner.
If you don't speak to them, don't acknowledge them, don't fight back, and avoid them in whatever passive way you can, they WILL get bored and leave you alone. They need hatemail and lots of kills to get a good, throbbing e-wood going.
...I want to participate in PvP myself, but someone with 2.5 million SP can't compete against bored idiots in nanoships, no matter how much warrior spirit they have. ________________

Lots of good advice here. Another piece of advice is to never log out. Stay logged in and just alt-tab out and leave the computer on. This will quickly bore your enemies to death.
Also; consider moving to lowsec or 0.0 for a period. Move to CVA space south in Domain and Providence; CVA has a open space policy except for pirates. I'm pretty sure your enemies won't follow you into lowsec

That can be a good way to get out from under it, especailly if you have a lot of skills to train anyway. However, the Isk Cost to War Dec is puny even successively. I could War Dec you for months on end and not feel it. So do not think the Fee is any sort of bother or deterant. +++++++++++++++ I saw the Sign...!

Well, first thing you'll notice is Eve is not like Wow, your hand is not held by the system. Second thing that makes eve different from wow is someone only a few weeks old can kill someone who's years old in game.
What you spoke of was a Warp Scrambler. You'll want one of those, and everyone in your corp in one location. Learn to use a voice system (team speak or the in-game voice system if you must, but keep IM open with your corp mates, find out why below...)
Since these players are more skilled (sp wise - more on that later), it is in my opinion that logon tactics are acceptable.
Get everyone in your corp in a combat ship. Frigates, cruisers, the bigger the better.
Since you seem like a good target to them, your ship should have the best tank you can fit. Plates/shield extenders, one web, and one scram. Don't worry about weapons, fit the best tank you can.
Get your entire corp in one system, find a belt, everyone warp to that belt, and all but you log off. Wait it out, mine with some t1 miner drones or something, when the hostile shows up, hit him with the webbie and warp scram while telling your corp mates to log in right on top of him.
You corp mates should have high damage, good tank, and if they can use ECM (Jammers, turret disruptor, etc) use it.
Keep killing them, and they will move on to softer targets.
As for their skill, picking on newbie corps or small newb alliance corps is pathetic at best. I invite them to come out and visit me some time, could always use some more cannon fodder.
