yeah, your missing something. i dont expect the ship to fly itself while i shoot stuff. if there is a roid or some other object inbetween me and the station i click warp to, i expect the AI to do something other than bump into the roid over and over, and eventually clear it 20 seconds later. i expect it to do something like "go around".
the main problem with the ai if you watch it, it starts to try and go around, but doesnt know if its clear, so it tries to go through again. gets stopped, and then starts over.
again...
if the devs wont fix the AI there is another option.
if the devs wont make the ships easier to manually navigate there is STILL another option.
(yes, i am not trolling here, i am offering a good solution which is:)
make all the objects non-collidable. piloting obviously isnt an integral part of this game, and it doesnt need to be. but seeing as thats the case, lets go with it and not fight it. just make all the space debris non-collidable and we have no problem.
There are reasons why the game is as it is. If you played it more, you'd find out. Don't talk about "logical" behaviour of an autopilot. If it was logical, computers would handle all the fighting. The autopilot is deliberately bad.
And please, stop talking about netcode and servers. You're just showing a complete ignorance of scaling issues with multi-player games, it's not linear.
EVE is a lot more complicated than Freelancer, which in terms of spatial awareness, is about as deep as a flash game. Try some PvP, before making ill-informed, sweeping statements about combat maneouvering.

WE have no problem. You do.
This is not WoW and the game will not be redeveloped around your inability to play it. If the tone of this seems scathing, it's because you're whining and using spurious logic. You're also the 324982374th newbie to come whining on the forums about how you lost a ship and want to quit. Just do it, or get over it already.
And Privateer 2:The Darkening > Freelancer. Being Clive Owen ftw.
