Edited by: Cpt Cosmic on 03/02/2008 08:11:29 Maybe it was suggested before, but why not give every caldari boat +1-2 mids + abit cpu and give it midslot hardpoints.
e.g. Shield modules would require "shield module hardpoints". Every other Module is neutral like a Salvager in the HI slots. Drake would have 7 mids with e.g. 5 "Shield Hardpoints" where you could fit shield modules as you wish and it is now but you could also fit a MWD and scrambler with a 5 Slot tank or you could fit a 4 Slot active tank with MWD, Cap Booster, Scrambler.

Too easy to be abused.
First ship that came to mind was intys. +1-2 mids = cap recharger and another disruptor/webber.
And what bout ECM boats? Scorpion with 10 mid slots...lmao
Anyways wont work. All other classes would require the same thing for armor rep hardpoints, too much problems.
I only fly caldari, and think this will overpower the race.

Wouldn't a hi-slot web or scrambler be far simpler?
Although such an introduction would still have quite an impact. Caldari would be able to solo more efficiently, Amarr wouldn't be quite so starved for mid-slots, there are a lot of other ships with a spare high that could benefit a lot (eg. the Megathron).
A few Caldari ships can already solo well, and Caldari and Amarr seem to be considered the teamwork based races. Sadly I doubt we'll ever see anything introduced to directly improve their solo capabilities.

I wouldn't think the day would come to say this, but...
If the changes from sisi pass on to tranquillity, Caldari will be quite nicely viable for pvp, no more help needed thank you. Maybe not top of the food chain, but viable? Let's see...
Widow,Rokh,Raven,Eagle,Harpy,Caracal,Drake,Scorpion,Cerberus,Raptor,Moa,Ferox,Kestrel,Crow,Merlin are the ones that will be at least good for some kind of pvp and some of them good for solo too (Rokh,Raven,Eagle,Harpy,Crow,Raptor,Ferox,Moa(lol if I said these last two before I would get hanged)) And Kitsune,Rook,Falcon,Blackbird will be the only ones left for gang-pvp-only.
So who's left to help? The Bantam? I can say I am very happy with the state of Caldari, AS LONG AS THE SISI CHANGES PASS. -----sig-----

Honestly, if Caldari ships would also become good at solo PvP, what reason would there be to fly any of the other races' ships?
Either they lose their PvE crown, or they stay the way they are. Actually it's really only solo PvP that lacks. Many Caldari ships are awesome for group or fleet PvP.

Fine. I will glady accept a "-100% damage to NPCs" penalty on all Caldari ships if it means making them awesome at PvP.

Speed is a big factor for any sort of lone Caldari exploits because they are SO sluggish that those stupid "range" bonuses are USELESS. If you cannot get someone to make your opponent sit still then do not expect to be getting them anywhere near your opt range.
Just for the record, the Moa and Ferox SUCK something unimaginable for PvP. I know this all too well. The missile boats are "okay" so long as your enemy does not get moving too fast and you get someone else to lock the target down. The Caldari Frigs and Ewar boats are rather nice but they are truly the only shining glory and even they are toast the moment anything gets a lock and can keep it. +++++++++++++++ I saw the Sign...!

This whole concept of caldari being non-viable in pvp is just plain cr4p and everyone with half a brain **** well knows it. Suggesting modifications to core game mechanics just to suit you and your chosen race is just trolling.

Very constructive. Is there a reason behind this compelling argument or are you just trolling?
The poor solo abilities of Caldari ships doesn't just affect solo. It effects just about everything up to a large gang. If your forming a small gang you often need as many points as you can get. I can't count the times I've been sat there as a big juicy target warped off because several gang-mates were down and those left on the field couldn't reasonably fit tackling kit on their ships.
On top of which a lot of people do solo. Leaving Caldari not gimped but certainly substandard in this regard is just as bad (imo far worse) than making a race perform poorly at fleet combat. Or is that fine too?
Train another race... already have. Gal, Cal, Min, and coming soon Amarr. But I'd like to be able to use them all on a regular basis otherwise multiple races may as well not exist.
Again I'm not saying you can't solo in Caldari ships, but I am saying that by doing so your not merely changing flavor, your setting yourself at a disadvantage compared to other solo pilots.

Welcome to EVE. QED. Caldari have some standout pvp platforms, as do other races. Caldari pilots must also choose balanced fittings depending on the role of the ship...
just like everyone else
Finally, the "omg im caldari we can't pvp" BS has been going on for as long as EVE has been in beta (2003-now) so I'm all out of constructive feedback. --- Not happy with something in EVE? An emo whine will doubtless help your cause. |

Then don't give feedback at all. (Welcome to EVE indeed. )
My point is that Caldari and Amarr have less solo viability than Gallente and Minmatar. I'm not asking for this to be improved either, since their med/large gang abilities are indeed on par with other races. It's annoying I can't really use my Cal ships for small gangs but I can just switch to Gal or Min ships.
All I was trying to get across was that IF a change were to be made to make Caldari solo/small gang pvp more viable it would (imo) be better and easier to add a single module than mess about with all the slots.
With FW coming in we're going to see a lot of empire blobs since you really can't get comparable performance out of Caldari ships in small roaming gangs. Whether of not this will be an issue, only time will tell.
